My first B&B in New Zealand and it was a pleasant experience. When we arrive, the owners Ken and Marriam were very hospitable. They made us a cup of tea as we unloaded our luggage from the car. Room was comfortable and spacious with a lovely garden view. Breakfast was very generous and served with a warm smile.

At $145 for bed and breakfast St Itas was very good value. The Rose room was nice (the shower room is a bit dated) and there is a pleasant guest lounge. The owners, Ken and Miriam, couldn't have been nicer and the black Labrador was very friendly too. There is pretty much nothing to do in Rakaia but this is... More

Booked 3 months prior to our travel: Garden views room with en-suite. On arrival the room we booked had been allocated to someone else! We were given the Chapel room which only had windows on one wall and they were white frosted windows floor to high stud ceiling. No garden views at all. The owner said we could open the... More

What a great place! We absolutely loved staying here for two nights in late December. The hosts were wonderful and made us feel very welcome. The room was beautiful, a good size and had a really comfy bed. The bathroom was quite small but perfectly sufficient for our needs. It was also a nice surprise to have homemade biscuits in... More

The only way to stay in Rakaia is to join in and be part of it. Ken and Miriam were very welcoming and hospitable. Anything modern in Rakaia would be out of place, so staying in this historical building was part and parcel of the Rakaia experience. Our adult family stayed for two nights. The rooms are large and comfortable... More

My husband and I stayed here for just one night as we were passing through the area, headed to Methven and then the West coast the next day. We could not be more happy with out stay. The home itself is lovely and has a wonderful history to it. The locals at the pub were very welcoming, as were St... More

Most kind hosts Ken and Miriam warmly greeted me and allowed me to check in early, as I had several hours to wait for my excursion company to pick me up. Wonderful guest lounge area with books and plenty of DVDS! A delicious and more than ample breakfast was provided and served just the way I liked it. The guest... More

I love buildings with history and was looking forward to my stay at St Ita's. Very friendly hosts who rekindled the fire upon my arrival. Huge guest lounge area! Bed was a bit soft for my liking, and ensuite facilities did not match the era of the bedroom. Huge breakfast served at a time that suited me, and it was... More

Just passing needed a bed picked Rakaia, found St Ita's B&B and knocked on the door. Lovely place, quite, clean, friendly hosts and a great breakfast. We had tea at the local pub, be sure to have the bangers & mash, wow. Overall a great place to stay, thankyou. Geoff & Maryrose, Port Macquarie Australia.

We arrived at St Ita's the week of the Canterbury Show, Cup Week and the visit of Prince Charles and Camilla, hence Canterbury was extremely busy to say the least! How lucky we were to have the opportunity to stay in this charming guesthouse with Miriam and Ken as our hosts. It truly is a "home away from home" and... More
