This hostel is located in an ex college building complex facing the beautiful fjord, at a five minutes steep walk from the sea. We slept in a room on the 1st floor (2nd in Norway) with twin beds and no view, nothing fancy but practical and clean. There was no elevator. It was quite hot during the day, however it... More

We had two great days here! Nice place, welcoming people free Wifi and laundry. And good breakfast. What more can one desire! Hiking paths start right here - the fjord is right infront of the place .......................................

I was travelling with my wife and 3 teenage boys and stayed here just one night. To most tourists in Norway, accommodation is expensive, this was the best value option I could find in the area. Wasn't that hard to find, there is a sign pointing to "Hardanger Folkehøgskule" on the 13 road which is this place. Normally a school... More

The best value for monies in the Hardanger area. Brand new furniture in rooms, good facilities and amazing breakfast. We particularly liked the fact that the breakfast buffet was very rich and constantly replenished. Highly recommended.

Only positive points about this hostel. Very nice location and surroundings (cherry tree garden, dining tables overlooking the fjord), comfortable rooms (like student rooms, which in fact they are during the school year), the best breakfast we had in Norway and a perfect starting point for discovering the region. The price for a twinroom suggests this is a 3-star hotel... More

The hostel is beautifully located along the fjord and has nice views. The hostel is actually a boarding school which is turned into a hostel during the summer. There is a kitchen and the rooms are clean. There are some picknick tables overlooking the fjord, which makes it very nice to have an evening drink. The breakfast was very nice... More

My friend and I spent two nights at Hardanger Vandrarheim while exploring nearby fjord Norway. Located in Lofthus, the hostel is a good 10-15 minutes walk from the center (a small collection of shops by the water), but otherwise easily located and convenient to the area. Our room had two single beds and a private bathroom. While simple, the room... More

We were very happy at this pleasant summer-only hostel in the beautifully located village of Lofthus. It isn't very easy to find but once you finally track it down you're met with a lovely looking old school (old as in not new, it still is a boarding school most of the year). The rooms are simple but clean. Bigger than... More

Stayed 1 night in a twin room (though we've booked a double) with ensuit shower and wc. We didn't have a good map and found it not easy to locate but people in the village could easily point us the way. Pros: - great view of the fjord, nice building, has potential for shooting horror movies ;-) - very clean... More

Fantastic area, average hostel with good breakfast. Great value in this part of Norway. The rooms are simple, but they gives you a good night of sleep. During the school year this hostel is a boarding school, folk high school.
