Good location on the beach. The place was a bit run down, but the rooms were very clean. The generator was only turned on after dark, which meant the beers were warm if there was a power cut in the day. It was a very laid back place and all the staff were friendly and helpful. I paid $40 a... More

We stayed two nights in Matemwe. It is a very peaceful village and a nice place to go diving. The bungalows were simple but nice and clean. The staff were friendly and the food was good... However we payed 75$ per night which is a bit expensive, because you can find the same quality for cheaper (50$).

Didn't enjoy this place much. The food was OK and eatable but that is all. Prices were acceptable. My wife had prawns but felt they were not cleaned properly. I had chicken, the sauce tasted like Cheese Whiz. The portions are large if that is important to you. Prawns cost 18,500Tsh and the chicken 15,000 Tsh. The staff was very... More

We recently stayed at nyota and while decent, it definitely was not worth the cost that they were charging ($75). For that price I would expect that a mosquito net with holes would be replaced - and moreso, the replacement would be new and not one with even more holes than the first one (as was our experience). Overall didn't... More

If you value your life and safety don't stay here! We planned to stay 3 nights but after such a terrible experience left after 2 nights. The management is the worst i have experienced with the manager Abdul always drunk or having a severe hang over. He is rude not only to the guests but is a bully to the... More

We stayed 2 nights in Nyota because the rest of Matemwe was fully booked. The hotel is not that bad, the room with sea view was OK. What we found terrible was the management and the staff working there. They don't care for the guests, you see every day different persons hanging around and you never know who is in charge.... More

I stayed in Nyota 4 nights in July with two other friends. We arrived from Kendwa which is a much more buzy place. The beach in Matemwe is really beautiful, and the atmosphere in Nyota is very special! It is very very easy to relax there. It is a small place built in a local Zanzibarian beach style. Perfect for... More
