Nice staff, clean and quiet. Not too many Russians and French people. Only 20 m from beach. Breakfast menu is good for Thai standard. And the pool is clean. Check if the aircon in ratteling before you get room.

Room was extremely old and looked NOTHING like the pictures online. The door to the room was not secure in the slightest and we ended up tying a rope from the main door to the bathroom door at night. The bathroom was such a let down as it looked lovely on the hotel pics. The bath was awful and very... More

Nice hotell with nice stuff, good food and sound of waves from the sea. If they get better signals for TV and WIFI it'll be one more star. We stayed for ten nights, the last four nights in a poolvilla - jaccusi and a pool just outside the glassdoor with a fantastic view to the ocean.

This is the sixth time I have stayed at this resort in the last ten years so I am in a position to judge performance and standards over time. I stayed there in late March 2014. I immediately sensed that all was not well. The bungalows are tired and getting a bit shabby. The standard garden view bungalows do not... More

I stayed here a week. I have no complaints. Very quiet, at the Beach, nice pool. They say they have a lof of French in the high season. That might sent a end to the quietness. But I think that is the same everywhere. There was no russians here.

The hotel is on Lamai beach, in the north side. They offer the swimming pool, the chairs for the beach and the towel for free. Note that the facilities at the swimming pool are in good conditions, while the chairs at the seaside are mainly broken. A good advantage is that you can have free, clean towels for the beach/swimming... More

Booked a room for the bathtub. First day got the booked room, tried to have a bath, checked: fleas everywhere. Cleaned it MYSELF Found a larva under the bathtub headrest: went to reception to coplain. They sent me the maid, who yelled at me saying she had 10 rooms to clean and not enough time. Booked the room again (since... More

If you want to be in a quiet place on the beach, but not too far from the action at lamai beach, this is the place. Bring or get a hammock, or 2. We hung them up on the trees. The pool is great. Can't swim out front in ocean--too many rocks, and very shallow (less than 2 feet /... More

This is the second time we stat at Sand Sea with two years between our visits. In addition I was at Lamai in 1997 and see the change towards a total tourist ghetto. Many places like Lamai is rapidly loosing it's charm in Thailand. The pressure from massive tourism wears both people, structures and nature down. Sand Sea is no... More
