We didn't stay here, but stumbled on the taverna quite by accident during a week long trip to Crete (Rethymnon). The taverna is accessible from the beach and thats how we found it. Second time I've stayed here for 5 weeks (as an archelon turtle volunteer). Spacious camping plots with plenty of bamboo shade. Free filtered cold drinking water, decent loo's and shower block (with hot water), stone sinks for hand-washing and a machine if you want it (ask at taverna), large communal fridge in kitchen for you to store your own food... I have stayed at camping Elizabeth during august 2010 for 3 days. This camping is the only organised camping near rethimno so it is the only choice you have if you want to visit the city all day. This was a good camping 5km from Rethymno centre, its right on the beach, it has no fence, but the area looks safety, it has a free wi-fi connection, restaurant, shop, washing maschine (3,50 euro), sanitary facilities were not too much clean but it was off-season date.
