We capped off our exploration of Tobago, then Trinidad with a stay here. Glad we did not find it sooner, or we would have never left, an it gave us our only great impression of Trinidad. (Tobago was spectacular tho) this area, and hotel is very different from the rest of Trinidad, partly because of its isolation. its truly beautiful... More

The Acajou is located in the village of Grande Riviere, which the Rough Guide describes as 'idyllic'. I would say it is 'potentially idyllic', but it is certainly tolerable for a few days to go up and see the Leatherback Turtles. The hotel itself is a group of pretty decent cottages or cabanas, each of which seems to have a... More

Humn...I actually enjoyed the long drive. The cottage architecture was quite nice and the kids and I made good use of the hammock. Areas for improvement: more citronella candles made available. Trinidad is an exceedingly hot place and they should consider installing a/c in the cottage. The heat was unpleasant and the fans were ineffective. Breakfast was the only meal... More

The trip to Grande Riviere is a long trip through beautiful scenery. When you arrive you are greeted with a beautiful private "cottages". At entry the staff are friendly and even gave us a free complimentary watermelon beverage. The dining was where it all started to go down hill. The menu tried to be way more upscale than it seemed... I stayed at Acajou for one night and I must say I was simply horrified with the service and management. The place is really quite remarkable and beautiful, but the staff gives you a run for your money. Could not prepare lunch was the beginning of the nightmare. Dinner was so overpriced and though they state on the menu some... More

In my opinion, this hotel is perfect for a couple on a romantic getaway. We visited with a small child and found this hotel simply not suited to our needs. The cottage was lovely but very small. For the price we paid, I think there could at least have been fresh things for making coffee and tea available. The items... More

My daughter Ashley , insisted that she see the leather back turtles lay eggs, so we decided to plan a trip to Grand Riviere Toco and book two self contained houses at Acajou Hotel . At first we were very worried as the accommodation had no air condition or no TV , but to our surprise none of this bothered... More
