We stayed at one of the cabins in April having decided to stay around Dalvik for an extra night and more ski time. We enquired at the coffee shop really late in the day and they called the owner Bjarni to see if they could find us a place to stay and he found us space at one of his... More

Stayed with a friend in a single room with two beds for 2 nights in the Dalvik hostel. The owner certainly likes collecting things of different kinds for decoration. A lot of things were on display on both the floors. The room was tidy but cosy with two beds. For shower, we had to go to the other floor. The... More

We stayed in the separate old cottage and loved it. My wife thought the cottage was very romantic, even the loft bedroom (I liked this). The family running these cottages and hostel also have a small restaurant - they made us feel at home, had delicious seafood on the menu and were some of the friendliest of our hosts in... More

We stayed in one of the holiday cottages which are sited just as you enter Dalvik opposite the Olis garage. The units are very small but they are very clean and well maintained . There is a large comfortable bed and a sofa bed which means you could sleep 4 but this would be quite a squeeze. The kitchen area... More

On arriving late in the afternoon nobody was at the reception desk. We had to go to a house on the other side of the village for enquiries. There we were told they were going to call to the hostel and upon our return there, there should be someone at the desk. Anyway, we had to wait another 10 to... More

We stayed in one of the cottages for 2 nights during our drive around Ring Road. We chose to stay here for 2 nights as there is lots to do in the area. We went whale watching twice and we also drove to Siglufjordur to tour the Herring Museum. The small cottage had a bed, sofa, table and chairs, kitchen,... More

My husband was a bit worried when I called it a hostel so I also booked 2 nights in Foss Hotel. That was a mistake! He loved it as much as me and would happily have stayed for the whole of our time in Dalvik. It is so convenient for the harbour, the views are amazing but the most important... More

Six other friends and I stayed at their guesthouse (3 min by car from the actual hostel) for two nights, and we simply loved it! The view was breathtaking, the place was very clean, charming, organized and comfortable, and the hosts were really helpful. We totally recommend this guesthouse! The fact that it isn't located in Akureyri didn't impair our... More

We stayed at the hostel for one night on our way to Grimsey. Beautiful spot, charming decor (cool old ice skates, skis, etc.) and a helpful host. Clean kitchen facilities, good shower, and right across the street from the harbor. Our room was huge as well - handy for repacking some of our camping gear. All in all a great... More

i think Gimli Hostel and Dalvik Hostel has the same owner as we went to dalvik hostel and was led to Gimli hostel in the end. It was all within short distance. Gimli was a very nice ski-ing cottage house. Every ski item can be found hanging on the wall or as a display, not forgetting that the owner's daughter... More
