We stayed here for 2 nights during our 2 1/2 week Namibia adventure. We found the staff very friendly and accommodating. The room was quiet and comfortable and, while not lavish, it was quite nice and suited us perfectly. We found the food to be very good. Each room has a nice porch/patio at the rear & it was a... We stayed at the Namib Naukluft Lodges and were not very impressed. The rooms are old and poorly lit with almost no wall plugs, one of the lamps were broken and the bed was full of sand. The food was ok but not the best and the staff were not dressed in uniform that served us for dinner. It did... More

1st it's remote to any other major cities, but an excellence accommodation for visiting sossusvlei. there is an excellent view from the top of the hill behind the lodge, need good hiking shoes to get up there. the breakfast and lunch was average, but the BBQ (Braai) dinner was excellent, especially the onyx steak. watch out for a lot of... This lodge is reasonably close to Solitaire, but quite a trek to Sossusvlei. It is quite simple but still a nice place to stay. The BBQ night is great, but the other food is a bit average. Check out the animal watching bunker by the waterhole. Lots of fun - you can take a drink down there and sit and... More

At least a 2-hour drive to/from Sossusvlei. Free WiFi in the reception and bar area, and if you're in Room #1 nearest to the reception, you should be able to tap into it as well. Rooms are nowhere luxurious but functional, with lovely hot showers. Boma and Potjie meals, standard of most lodges/camps, were good with traditional game and good... More

Probably the most tranquil relaxing place we have ever stayed. If you want to get away from it all then this is the one. Take the sundowner trip out to the marble mountain if you can , have a beer or two and watch the sun go down, perfect. We shall be back !

What a great place this is. We stayed for two nights, using the lodge as a gateway to Sossussvlei. The lodge is nestled at the foot of a rocky hill on the edge of the National Park of the same name, and has about sixteen bungalows, each with a view of the vast Namibian countryside. You can sit outside your... More

This lodge has beautifully appointed rooms overlooking the desert. It's about 100km from Sossuvlei so to be at the Nat Parks gate at sunrise, you need to leave the lodge at least an hour earlier. It was worthwhile. The dunes were amazing. The lodge served a cereal and tea snack before we left. The bedrooms and en suite bathrooms are... More

First, location. Excellent. Photo ops abound! Oryx and springboks walk right right up to the lodge. Sunset from nearby Marble mountain is as stunning as any sunset I have seen anywhere. Comfortable rooms. Excellent staff. Wonderful meals using game animals and fresh veggies. Nice bar. Cloe to the dunes you came to visit.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Namib Naukluft Lodge The best spot to experience the living desert is on our 13,000 ha farm, which was pronounced as a private nature reserve in 1999 and hosts the upmarket Namib Naukluft Lodge. Stunning sceneries invite you to nature drives and walks. Enjoy your stay in unexpected comfort and friendly hospitality. The Lodge offers a variety of activities and we recommend a stay of two to three full days. Enjoy the ever-changing pastel colours of the beautiful Pro-Namib. Use the morning hours for an easy climb to the top of one of the adjacent granite hills or a walk in the vicinity. Explore the diverse flora and fauna, where the trees grow seemingly out of the stones. Relax at the crystal clear swimming pool during the heat of the day. In the late afternoon you may join a ‘sundowner’ – drive to the natural marble mountains on the farm. Listen to the evening sound of the barking gecko – a concert never to be forgotten. The clear night sky invites you to an unreal stargazing experience. Try to spot the Milky Way and the Southern Cross! We’ll show you the oldest desert on earth. Our friendly staff will make your stay unforgettable. Welcome to Namib Naukluft Lodge – your desert dream! Namib Naukluft Lodge offers 16 tastefully furnished rooms with en-suite facilities and a private, spacious patio with a striking view. Excellent traditional meals are served in the restaurant, on the adjacent verandah or in the boma from the open fire. The lounge and pool area offer a relaxed atmosphere after an active day in the desert. The Sossusvlei ExcursionOn a daily basis, an excursion to the popular dunes at Sossusvlei is offered. The tour is conducted by an Englishspeaking driver /guide in a 4 x 4 overland vehicle. Secure your seat and book in advance. An early morning rise, with a snack before leaving, enables you to arrive at Sesriem, the Park’s gate, at around sunrise. Enjoy this unique desert scenery with some of the highest dunes in the world. The dynamic and star-shaped dunes are ideal for the keen photographer. Climb one of the over 300 m high dunes and you will be overwhelmed by the view. A full breakfast is served under shady camelthorn trees. Visit the Sesriem Canyon before returning to the Lodge for lunch. The Naukluft Hiking TrailIf you are fit and active, we offer a 2 hour hiking trail in the mountains of this 13,000 ha private nature reserve. Your hike will be accompanied by one of our nature conscious guides. However, you may also walk it by yourself. The trail is accurately laid out, a map and a radio will ensure your safety during the hike. Extend your Sossusvlei Shuttle for another day to experience the Naukluft Mountains – the other side of the desert ! ... more   less
