The Lodge itself is clean and nice, but nothing overhelming. Personal is very friedly either guides and staff from restaurant and management. If you need to do a web check-in for a flight they are very kind in helping you. Rooms are clean and good, some moskito around, but with moskito net and with repellent manageable. Cuisine is the only... More

What a place in the middle of nowwhere. Beautiful terrace for afternoon tea and sundowners Staff put out a rooftop bed where we slept onel night under a cosy downie, albeit with hat, leggings and a fleece as well. Enthusiastic singing by the staff nightly Dining room can be cold so take evening sweaters and jeans rather than dresses . If... More

My family and I spent two days at the lodge, which we thoroughly loved. By far the best managed place we have been to in Namibia, and an ideal choice to visit Soussovlei. The hotel is located in a magnificent nature reserve with great views from both rooms and central restaurant and bar area. It provides great service and great... More

Dear ElBar72, Thank you for your great review we are so glad that we were able to live up to your expectations. Kulala Desert Lodge is one of three camps on the Reserve, all of which have exclusive access to a private gate that leads to the magnificent Sossusvlei dune corridor and the vlei itself. The last time we were in Namibia we camped, so this was definitely more luxurious! We were met at the airstrip by our lovely guide Michael, who looked after us fantastically and was the definite highlight of our desert trip. On arrival at the Desert Lodge we were greeted with hot towels and homemade ginger beer, and all the staff... More

I arrived after a long drive from Swapokmund, so I pulled into the property after sundown because the evening light shining on the incredible terrain encouraged me to continually stop to take photographs and soak in the scenery. The evening meals were good, but not memorable. I opted to sleep under the stars, so a bedroll was arranged for me.... More

Dear Eitleoir, Thank you for your fantastic review, we are so glad to see you enjoyed so many of the activities on offer at Kulala Desert Lodge, even the sleep out under the stars. Dead vlei (Vlei is Afrikaans and is loosely translated to "marsh") is a white clay pan located near the more famous salt pan of Sossusvlei, scattered... More

Other than the excellent beds, we have nothing good to say about this experience. The management was disinterested, disorganized, and mostly entirely absent. We were not informed about activity options or given choices. Our guide, perfectly nice, took a full van of us to hike the dunes (fantastic experience). But rather than organize things so that those who finished 2... More

Unfortunately I only stayed a few hours in this property and I am so going back and stay longer. This environmentally friendly resort is not very big and it's very cute and quiet, right in the middle of the desert, with view over the dunes. The cottages are actually tents (if it's windy it might get slightly noisy but it's... More

Great experience, fantastic accommodation in the desert facing tents, peaceful and tranquil and very close access to the Namib-Naukluft park and the Soussusvlei. Staff fantastic and helpful for anything you might need. Will return as soon as we can.

Indulamiti, we suspect that the sossusvlei desert has crept into your soul and gotten under your skin and left its indelible mark on you. Once addicted to the scenic splendour, super camp, wonderful staff and beautiful dunes, it is very hard to stay away for long. Thank you for the brilliant comments, highly appreciated and we await your return to... More

Pros: Very cute, solitary bungalows. Staff VERY helpful. Very ecologically conscious Good food, amazing breakfast Good tours. Own entrance to park Cons: No wifi (but they have a single computer on a slow speed) NO MOSQUITO NETS. This was a problem, as mosquitoes didn't respond to Deet. Got four bites. About 40min away from everything else (though there really isn't... More

jcb193, what a great little review to read. We are happy to know that the accommodation was cosy, staff good, food enjoyable and tours great. We would like to advise that since your visit mosquito nets were installed in all the rooms, to keep the pesky insects away so that guests may enjoy a peaceful nights rest, without being disturbed.... Our group from New Zealand flew into Windhoek and had a 6 hour drive to Kulala Desert Lodge. The next day we went to see the sand dunes at Sossusvlei, with an early start so we got there soon after sunrise. They were magnificent.
