It's no exaggeration to say this lodge is an oasis. The surrounding area is so dry and dusty, it was a treat to be welcomed by smiling hosts and chilled face cloths after a very long drive!! The little thatched "kulalas" are delightful, and we treated ourselves to a bed on the rooftop for our second night. Every comfort is... More

Although not the very top level of accommodation, this place has one unique advantage, a back gate into Sesriem and Deadvlie. This will get you in early, before the rush and whilst the sun is still low. I would strongly recommend it just for this, so long as you use their vehicles. Again I would strongly recommend that you do.... More

My stay at Kulala Desert Lodge was one of pleasant highs and one frustrating low. The lodge itself, situated a bumpy ride off the main road and situated in secluded silence, is a pleasure to behold. We were greeted with cool drinks and wet towels after our long drive and shown to our spacious, well decorated rooms. One of the... More

First we requested a room close to reception and they walked us to the second farthest room away. When I complained, they moved us to the second farthest room in the other direction. I produced the email of several months ago detailing my requests, none of which were met despite the fact they proclaimed they try to meet requests. This... More

I find it really hard to believe that this is not the top standard of Wilderness Safaris' accommodation, as this felt like a paradise in the desert! We loved our two nights, and would definitely return. From the welcome onwards, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful - nothing was too much trouble, and we felt really... More

We were at Kulala for 4 days so got to know it well! The staff, but for a few grumpy ones, were fantastic. The barman Chris in particular stood out. He was always friendly and attentive. The setting is amazing and the nearby dunes were awesome. The early morning trip to the dunes was a bit of a mad dash with... More

This lodge offered very nice private cabins in a remote area of the Namib desert. There are not many cabins, so there is never a crowd of guests at one time-and the atmosphere is luxurious but not pretentious, relaxed and casual but not too rustic. During June, it was very cold during the evenings and there is not heating in... More

This is a quaint and nicely appointed lodge bordering the Namib desert. The individual Kulalas are comfortable. The staff does everything to keep you happy. The Namib Desert is an amazing experience and Deadvlei as well as sand dune hiking are not to be missed. The lodge provided Sundowners nightly which were special

This is the second time I've stayed at Kulala Desert Lodge and I've got to say they are consistently excellent. All the staff are very friendly and they will go out of their way to cater to your needs. I particularly wanted to see Dead Vlei so they made a guide available to take me. He was excellent - very... We cannot begin to praise Kulala Desert Lodge enough!! From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with damp towels to cool you down after a long journey, and a cold refreshment. The staff are unbelievably courteous and friendly, and we really felt well-looked after. Nothing was too much to ask of them! The lodge is tastefully decorated, and overlooks... More
