We were a group of 8 people with 4 adults and 4 kids that stayed in Kulala desert lodge. We drove from Walis bay and it was a bit adventurous getting there as there are not too many signs to get to this place especially in the dark. But once we got there we were awed by the views from... More

Kulala lodge is located near the park gate.from Windhoek you will need a car or catch a plane as there are no shuttle service offered. I booked 3 nights at the lodge and My first and last impressions were negative . I have booked the lodge to get a peaceful moment in the middle of the desert but all I... More

There are so many great things to say about Kulala and their staff. Here are the highlights. 1. Eco-friendly: Widerness Safaris have a "green" mission but it was truly evident at Kulala. Frederika, the manager, provided us with reusable water bottles that we filled from large water jugs during our stay so no disposable plastic bottles were needed. Additionally, she... More

Thank you Wendystarkriemer, we are thrilled we could be a part of your birthday celebrations and hope it was a memorable one. We are glad to hear you enjoyed all your time spent with Joas; Joas was born and raised in Ezorongondo, a village within the Omaheke region. After his secondary education Joas went to Botswana studying professional safari guiding... More

The staff at this lodge looked after us very well. During our two nights stay ours were the only children (ages 6 & 8) and they were made to feel very welcome. Realising our two were slightly less adventurous foodwise than adults, they arranged a simpler menu for the second day. Our guide, Joas, took us out to climb dunes... More

A wonderful oasis in the desert and so close to the Famous Dunes and Deadvlie. Kulala s were comfortable and even though I had a bit of a hike to my room # 4 it was nice , quiet and peaceful. If you are not sure footed then request rooms close to reception. The paths are rocky, sandy and undulating... More

Dear Anne H, Thank you for your fabulous review, we are delighted to hear what a great time you had with us and hope that Cliff did not push you too far. It is however an experience that is not to be missed while in the area, and fabulous that the worst of it was over “before you knew it”.... More

Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Accommodation in individual huts which are comfortable, but not super luxurious. We were on full board and the food was tasty and nicely presented. The visit to the dunes was SPECTACULAR...not be missed. Saw some wildlife, but being a desert, they were scarce. Open bar with great cocktails freely available. Nothing negative to report.

It's no exaggeration to say this lodge is an oasis. The surrounding area is so dry and dusty, it was a treat to be welcomed by smiling hosts and chilled face cloths after a very long drive!! The little thatched "kulalas" are delightful, and we treated ourselves to a bed on the rooftop for our second night. Every comfort is... More

Dear Claire K, Thank you for the fabulous review, we are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time spent with our staff as much as you enjoyed your time at our camp. The overwhelming intention with the design and building of the camp was to emphasize and enhance the view of the dunes and the sense of space and... More

Although not the very top level of accommodation, this place has one unique advantage, a back gate into Sesriem and Deadvlie. This will get you in early, before the rush and whilst the sun is still low. I would strongly recommend it just for this, so long as you use their vehicles. Again I would strongly recommend that you do.... More

Dear Avery-Little, Thank you for this beautiful review, we are thrilled to hear your fond recount of your stay with us, and again for highlighting the fact that the private Kulala gate is only accessible in a camp vehicle under the supervision of our highly qualified guides. This may incur an extra cost (depending on the rate you are booked... More

My stay at Kulala Desert Lodge was one of pleasant highs and one frustrating low. The lodge itself, situated a bumpy ride off the main road and situated in secluded silence, is a pleasure to behold. We were greeted with cool drinks and wet towels after our long drive and shown to our spacious, well decorated rooms. One of the... More

Dear AussieOnTheRoadcom, Thank you for the kind review, we are thrilled to hear your happy memories of your time spent with us, there is nothing quite like an African Sunset. Very few to almost none of our camps and lodges throughout Africa offer Wi-Fi and those that do, unfortunately, can only give limited services. Due to the remote locations in... More

First we requested a room close to reception and they walked us to the second farthest room away. When I complained, they moved us to the second farthest room in the other direction.
