I think it's important to note that the owners seemed to have moved to a new house nearby, so the issues previous reviewers had may now be resolved. I had a great stay here! It was the end of my first day hiking the Wicklow Way, and I was exhausted and hungry when I arrived. A biscuit with jam and... More

We've had a wonderful stay in october when we started our walk of the Wicklow Way downthere. Very gentle people who cooked excellent and we slept well. Rooms were warm, comfortable and clean. So we enjoyed our stay.

14 Sept 2014. 5 of us stayed in this hostel recently while walking the Wicklow Way. It was by far the worst experience of our trip. It was dirty &damp. All the en-suites were absolutely tiny and the water pressure is pathetic. Not to be recommended after a long walk. The owners are very nice but this is no compensation.... More

After reading the other reviews we were worried about staying here. We needed a great night's sleep after a very long day of travel from the US to prepare for our first day's hike on the Wicklow Way. Owners Helen and Noel could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Noel picked us up from the train station, ran us... More

We visited this place in the beginning of August. It was one of several b&b's along the Wicklow Way. Referring to the two star ratings: If you just judge on the comfort itself, we agree. But here comes the 'but': The couple who owns this place was so friendly and helpful (they drove us to the village and back, they... More

Ashfield Hostel is part of Ashfiled B&B, but it is a different building. The hostel is located exactly on the Wicklow Way, Tinahely. Positive: - cheap accommodation: 20 EUR/person - good location: exactly on the Wicklow Way - friendly and helpful owners Negative: - the hostel is very dirty, including kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms. - there was no linen change, the... Whilst you can be assured of a lovely welcome and excellent breakfast, the accomodation was very poor indeed. Don't be fooled by the photos of the bedrooms which make out they are considerably larger than they really are, nor illustrate the fact that the walls are paper thin. The electrics are truely lethal with the sockets hanging right off the... More

You can be sure of a warm welcome from Helen and Noel, they will do anything for you you need, the breakfast is very good; however the B&B is let down badly by the property itself. Chaotic, small and in need of a complete re-build! Small rooms, a double only large enough as a single. Check out the rickety stairs... More

I stayed here one night out of 60 nights in about 50 BnBs in Ireland in the summer of 2011. This was the only poor experience I had. I got to the BnB soaking wet and freezing doing the Wicklow Way. The room, in a shack outside the house, was dark, cold and gloomy. The radiator, which I asked to... More

I stayed here in August 2011. The room was small and cramped, with an extremely small en suite bathroom. There was no hot (or warm) water... and the room I stayed in seems to have been the best in the house, based on what other people staying there told me. The owners were very nice but have clearly stopped trying... More
