Of the three Wilderness Safaris concessions where we stayed last month, this was our favorite and where fortunately we booked three nights. "Tent" number 1 was pleasantly removed (maybe 100 yards) from the central dining and social facility, so a couple times we had to wait for a greater kudu or an elephant to clear the area where the raised... Like all the Wilderness Safari camps this was lovely, well appointed, good food on the river. The staff was always helpful and could not do enough for our pleasure. Our guide Name and his assistant Evan did everything to find us the wildlife we were looking for. We saw the elusive wild dogs and followed up close. Lions and lionessea... More

We had a most wonderful stay at this Camp, some of the best game viewing and the most wonderful company in the camp. The tent was light and airy, wonderful view over the Linyanti Marsh with hippos passing by just outside. The camp has 10 tents but the attention to each guest is brilliant, the staff are really a happy... More

Dear MamiKiki, Thank you for your great review. The wild dog packs really thrilled us this month, having been seen on 12 different days! It is so good to be able to spend time with these endangered predators. The pack that was most often seen was the LTC Pack – comprising 18 dogs – with multiple kills reported, kudu and... More

This camp was absolutely fantastic. The rooms were spacious and clean and had a beautiful view. The dining/library/bar area equally as nice. The game drives were hugely successful and we saw all kinds of wildlife and beautiful birds. The last night we took a boat ride and followed a herd of elephants as they crossed the Linyanti River. Camp managers... More

Dear khock79162, Thank you for your fantastic review. We at DumaTau are very lucky to have a great management team. In the main area, the dining space is divided into pockets of privacy arranged around a comfortable kitchen, and the lounge into intimate nodes for relaxation, under dramatic views. A long rivened- timber bar and a dining bar face Osprey... More

EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE, FOOD, TENTS & STAFF... Absolutely AMAZING vistas..the views from the TENTS, bar, dining room and floating deck....WOW! Hippos and Elephants frolicking outside your door. "Tents" like nothing you can imagine...felt like I was in a dream space. Super comfy beds, and LOVED the hot water delivery every morning, for a French Press in my tent before the game... More

Dear Herbsaint, Thank you for your kind review and for sharing your celebrations with us. Now with summer at DumaTau Camp a thing of the past, factors such as insects are minimal and temperatures very comfortable, allowing us to host a number of bush activities. Among these have been sundowner stops, soup stops, bush brunches and bush dinners. Guests’ favourite... More

Nature around camp is superb. There are lots of animals everywhere. For bird lovers this place is must. Our highlight was wild dogs and leopard. Managers were very friendly but they were mostly europeans/american. We found that bizarre because Wilderness advertise that one of their vision (4C) is to provide possibility for local people to become managers. Rooms were very... More

We stayed at this camp for 3 nights on our 9-night trip in March. This was our second time in Botswana, but the first time in this camp, in fact we didn't repeat any camps during our second trip. This camp was built in 2012 and is beautiful, clean and in a great location, overlooking a large spill from the... More

This was 1 of 5 camps we stayed at during our trip and the second of 3 Wilderness Safaris camps. The drive from the airstrip was fun and not too long. Great camp. Early starts 5 am! We saw the wild dog pack several times a highlight. In general great game viewing. The land and water options are great. Meals were good. Appreciate that the camp was solar powered. Service was very good - best of all camps we visited. Managers hands on. The scenery along the river is beautiful!

Dear Squashfrog, Thank you for your great review. We are lucky to host a great variety of animals in the area surrounding DumaTau. The Linyanti experiences tremendous seasonal transitions: in summer brilliantly green and lush, while in winter it becomes a barren, dry and harsh interior away from the river. In the dry winter months, large herds of elephant and... More

We stayed here over new year for 3 days. Unfortunately it was raining and this presented some challenges, in particular, everything got wet and had trouble drying out, but on the whole it didn't spoil our stay here. Some sort of drying room would be a good addition. eco- of course. They have fantastic poncho's that keep all the rain... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Perhaps the best game viewing in far northern Botswana - from its newest and most stylish camp. DumaTau means "roar of the lion," but the elephant reigns here. The camp is set on a lagoon on the Linyanti River between two "elephant highways," affording unparalleled viewing of these iconic mammals, along with other wildlife. Together with sweeping, dramatic views of the river, the architecture of the camp expresses the explorer aesthetic, as well as the idea of space. There is an airy dining and lounge area, and a pool, all taking advantage of the superb view of the lagoon. Highlights DumaTau is located close to the source of the Savute Channel, with access to the Linyanti Swamps, floodplains and extensive mopane woodlands, thus offering an excellent combination of land and river. During winter, large elephant herds traverse the area. Chances of viewing leopard, lion and wild dog are excellent, along with other large mammals like hippo, red lechwe, giraffe, waterbuck, kudu, impala and occasional buffalo. 10 Tents (including 2 Family Tents): Rebuilt 2012; en-suite; spacious; raised off the ground; clear-storey window; 100% solar powered Experiences: Day and night game drives • Nature walks (on request) • Boating and barge (seasonal) • Game viewing hides • Catch-and-release fishing (seasonal) ... more   less
