We stayed at Sonnenalp for 2 nights at the end of August 2014. The reception was spot on, and the hotel was better than we expected. Beautiful, relaxed high quality rooms, lovely pool and spa area and superb restaurants and bars. Don't miss out on an evening meal in the excellent Silberdistel Michelin starred restaurant. The food and service are... More

This ski and golf resort is a decades long tradition for many upper class German families. It feels like a vacation here is something one inherits. Wonderful for family gatherings, bring your granny, mom, dad, cousins, kids, friends. Decent skiing and golfing. But otherwise you need to drive everywhere and attractive towns are a good drive away. Nothing if you're... More

We stay at the Sonnenalp in Vail Colorado every year so we were very curious to see the one in Germany that we've heard so much about. Lovely place, beautiful landscaping. But, it is far out of really lovely Towns like Oberstdorf which would be such a shame to miss. This Hotel caters to serious golfers and perhaps Companies looking... More

Sonnenalp is known to attract generations of old German families and therefore celebrates similar social rituals as Schneider's in Lech or Palace in St. Moritz. This means that it's hard to get a room until next year and impossible around key dates, because some families come with granny, children, grand children and the dog. As a result it takes time... Set against the backdrop of the Alps this hotel is truly a wonderful experience. The rooms are spacious, clean and cosy. Each has a balcony, mine was overlooking the Alps, I woke up each morning to that wonderful view, fresh air and the sound of cowbells, quite enchanting. The hotel boasts a spa, sport facilities and a mini shopping mall... More

About to spend our 5th summer holidays there in a row. Our kids are happy there for the sensational entertaining programme, we enjoy gourmet dining and, being expats, the feeling being home from home. Guided hiking tours are great fun and very informative, the tennis coach is killing you being double your age, but then go and spoil yourself even... More

The food is not that 5 stars, and is not that kind of Relais Chateaux type, I mean is not intimist, it is a really big resort and the pools can be crowded when the hotel is full. Me and my family, we enjoy smaller Relais. The service is good as well as the facilities and outdoor possibilities. We have... More

Came here With my wife, son and parents at my parents suggestion, since they had been here a few years back. This is a wonderful place. I would describe it as casual sophistication. It is perfectly comfortable for families with children of any age, as well as couples without children. The grounds are magnificent and there is much to do,... More

I've been to Sonnenalp with the whole family three times now (8 adults and 10 teenagers) in the past seven years, twice in the winter and once in during spring. When you swim from the inside pool to the outside pool you swim towards a fantastic view. A view with mountains, forrests and you surrounded by steam from the pool... More

The Sonnenalp is an absolutely fabulous place to stay. The location is beautiful, with Alpine views all around. However, because the area is rural and there are many farms, there may be an odor of manure at times. The hotel and its rooms are designed and decorated in the Bavarian-Tyrolean style (frankly, I cannot tell the difference) and are well... More
