This truly palatial retreat is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in our travels around the globe. If you are planning a first-time trip to Morocco, definitely make this place your residence, as the staff here will help you with anything you need, going far beyond the typical host role to show you around, tell you... We stayed in Taroudant for 1 night in April 2014 on a circular route from Toubkal mountains round to Essaouira, When we eventually found Dar Zahia which is tucked away from the main streets, we found an oasis of calm, a lovely place, which makes you want to just relax, have a drink, read a book, and not bother heading... Staying at Dar Zahia was wonderful. A home was made into a hotel with great taste and design. It was comfortable and clean. There were many rest areas throughout the property with couches and chairs. All were covered so you could rest in shade. It was like being in a garden, a little piece of Eden. What really made my... More

We spent only one night here in Taroudant but it left a big impression. We were greeted by Zahia and given refreshments which were most welcome. While dinner was being prepared, Zahia took us for a walk through the market and gave us some information about the city. We enjoyed her company over dinner which was a very good couscous.... More

I would recommend staying here. Zahia is charming and really looks after you. The Riad is so interesting with a wonderful courtyard with simple but clean quiet rooms off it. There is a lovely roof terrace. We had a superb tagine cooked by Zahia's cook and had a fun night meeting the other guests. To find the riad for us... More

More

I have to agree with the rest of the reviews here. Dar Zahia is a really well-kept secret and so, so special! I haven't been taken care of this well maybe ever. The design of the whole guest house was very thoughtful, and so cool to have several levels to escape to. Nice and cool down below but a big... More

The riad is straight our an interior design book (of which there were several in the library). The minimalist aesthetics are however at the cost of some idosyncrasies (the shared wc for the two ground floor rooms was one) but we enjoyed the sense of calm and the contrast between the simplicity of the rooms and the lush planting of... I loved staying at Dar Zahia. The riad is decorated fantastically well, appropriate and characterful. It was a tranquil and relaxing escape from the bustle of Taroudant and the communal areas looked beautiful lit up at night. Fatima's cooking was fantastic, she cooks like an angel. We don't normally eat in our accommodation, because we like to try lots of... More

We weren’t too sure about this place either after we arrived or even now. This stunningly beautiful yet simply furnished riad was our second of three stops in a driving tour of Morocco. It is located down a non-descript street in a somewhat non-descript town, euphemistically referred to by locals and the tourism authorities as a ‘mini Marrakech’. Zahia, the... More
