Mbuyu Beach Bungalows is an idyllic, small and quiet place, off the beaten tourist track in the authentic Msambweni village, but also not far from various tourist attractions. The lovely decorated bungalows are overlooking the white beach. They are equipped with mosquito net, fan, fridge, coffee/tea making facilities, beach bag, and surrounded by a neat palm tree garden with swimming... More

I stayed at Mbuyu Beach Bungalows for four nights in the end of September/beginning October. I stayed in the room which is in the main house and was very happy there. The room is very tastefully decorated. Because of windows to all sides there is always a fresh breeze so that I never missed aircondition. The windows have mosquitonets and... More

This is the ideal vacation spot for those who want to experience one of the few remaining untouched holiday locations along the Kenyan coast. You immediately feel like you have the "Msambweni Island" to yourself - friendly village atmosphere, a private beach walk and the feeling that you are the only guest at this lodge. So if you are looking... More

Coming straight from the city and a long drive, the welcome was already priceless. Everybody waiting to have dinner with us and breathing in the fresh ocean breeze promised a fantastic start to a couple of days on the coast! - The food is fantastic, as is the service! Next morning watching the sun rise & breakfast overlooking the ocean... More

Wow, what a great place to relax and enjoy a peacefull vacation. The owners are very nice people that like to share their diner with the guest. They are very interested in your stories, but also have many stories about Africa themselves and they are really helpfull. The staff is amazingly, they are nice and always in for a talk.... More

Is it the old baobab tree, one of the biggest I have ever seen? Is it the the beach where fishermen work as if the world hasn't changed in the last 400 years? Is it the friendly and personal atmosphere in this tiny lodge of five luxurious bungalows? May be it is a unique mixture of ingredients that have made... More

Have just spent 6 idyllic days at MBB with three kids aged 12, 14 and 14. Quiet, relaxed and one of the most scenic sites on the Kenya Coast. Deserted beach, traditional ngalawas moored next door and none of the normal scourges found on the more popular Kenyan beaches. Reminded me of Diani 40 years ago. The kids loved the... More

This is the perfect place for some days off, located next to the sea with splendid views of the beach and the sea. Very private place, friendly staff and very nice owners! Very relaxing atmosphere, and nice food. Easy to get there, either by air directly to Ukunda/Diani Air strip, or from Nairobi very affordable by night bus. If you... More

We recently spent 4 days at Mbuyu Beach Bungalows, after a week in chaotic Nairobi and a 4 day safari in the Maasai Mara. This place was just what we needed. MBB is located a 30min drive from Ukunda/Diani air strip, in Msambweni (they organised the airport transfer for us). The actual beach (Mbuyu beach), which is right oposite MBB,... More

We had 5 heavenly days at the most relaxing and pleasant surroundings we have been sofar ( travelled the world). No music and a pace that makes you feel utterly relaxed. Service as well as the food were outstanding. The beach was quiet and deserted, but for the dayly activities of the local fisherman going out to sea and returning... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
"Mbuyu Beach Bungalows“ is a quiet seaside hideaway in the friendly fishing village Msambweni, about 50 km south of Mombasa. Its white beaches are still off the beaten track, its tropical garden is abundant with trees and flowers. The well equipped Makuti bungalows all have ceiling fans and safes, fridges and water cookers, private bathrooms and terraces overlooking the sea. You will find hammocks strung between palm trees, a swimming pool and a much praised little restaurant right on the beach. You can book bed&breakfast, half- or fullboard. The rooms are serviced daily. A Swiss/German couple just took over the place – as long-time residents in Kenya they want to offer that kind of reasonably priced hospitality they themselves have always been looking for. ... more   less
