I have been travelling throughout Africa for 15 years and started taking a breather at Mombasa Serena Beach Hotel since 1998, by pure chance. At the time the hotel was practically empty, due to the cyclic skirmishes but the salient quality of Serena has always been the wonderful staff and high quality of service which is particularly important in Africa.... more

Great service from staff that really care about thier guests. Rooms are bright clean and well maintained. Some rooms are being refurbished but most have been done. Food is great and well presented. We can understand why many guests come here for thier honeymoon. We would come here again. Food in the grill can be a little pricey ! Beach... more

We’d narrowed our options to 3 hotels and chose the Serena because they responded promptly to our email and really sold the resort to us. They wanted us to “experience their service”, a rare quality today as most places have a take it or leave it attitude. We booked via Virgin Holidays who were competitive and efficient. On arrival the... more

Wow wow wow! I did not have the highest expectations but this hotel truly blew me away. The room I got was not remarkable. However it was clean and well equipped and very comfortable with a charming porch to look out at the ocean. Additionally it had the most amazing bathroom that would have fit in in any international 5*... more

If you require constant air conditioning, I don't reccomend you stay here. The lobby of the main building is not air conditioned; it's completely open air to include its adjacent restaurants. DINING: The food was OUTSTANDING, and reasonably priced, but be careful to safeguard your bread. Small monkeys that inhabit the property will do their best to make off with... more

Having booked a five star hotel we did'nt expect a cracked wash basin, dirty mirror and light switches nor a towel rail falling off the wall. The bathrooms need updating and the rooms cleaning properly. Promised bottled water and coffee sachets not in room. We arrived in the evening after a day of travelling. We were shown to our room... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this lovely, friendly, realxing hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable - very romantic with beautiful fresh white cotton sheets and mosquito netting surrounding the beds - the only down side to the rooms was that the lighting was a little poor. We stayed in a village room which had a seperate bath and... more

We felt like royalty during our stay at the Mombasa Serena. We got the usual welcome drink and wet towel and were promptly escorted to our room with an ocean view. Because we had breakfast included in our rate, the hotel put a really huge breakfast box for us as we had to leave at 6am one morning for a... more

We stayed at the Serena Beach hotel after 8 long and tiring days on safari and it was just what we needed. The staff were superb from the moment we checked in and couldn't do enough to help us. Food was plentiful and on the whole pretty good particularly if you are a fan of curries and spicy food. I'm... more
