As everyone has mentioned already, a friendly, welcoming, clean, warm and comfortable B & B, with a lovely and friendly couple plus Wellington, a lovely Labrador who is a character in his own right The caring and thoughtful touches are the icing on the cake of this great B & B We are looking forward to meeting them all again

Stayed overnight during a work visit nearby and wanting something more personal than the faceless hotel chains! Friendly welcome by Philippa and Wellington (v sweet) with a pot of tea and fruit cake. Shown to lovely double room, with home made biscuits and really comfy bed. Recommendations for local places to eat (pub few minutes walk away) and Lovely breakfast... More

My girlfriend and I stayed at Oak House for two nights during a long weekend in Nottinghamshire. We went shopping in Nottingham on Friday and arrived at The Oak House at around 3.30 p.m., to be greeted by Phillipa and Richard, who are really friendly and made us feel at home straight away with a nice pot of tea and... The welcome, care, courtesy, cleanliness, space, facilities and wonderful extra personal touches from Philippa and her husband are second to none. They are also two of the nicest , most genuine people you will ever meet and within minutes I felt as though I was visiting good friends. It's even worth selecting the area for a holiday just to stay... More

Stayed here while visiting family in Nottingham and we were not disappointed! Beautiful house with very friendly owners. Very tasty cooked breakfast and upon arrival we were offered some tea and coffee and fruit cake which was a lovely addition! The lady has a gorgeous dog who was very friendly too and enjoyed our breakfast leftovers! Highly recommended for Nottingham... More

The Oak House was without a shadow of doubt one of the best B&B's that we have stayed in. From the moment we walked in the the service and hospitality was exceptional. The room was luxurious and very well appointed. The flexibility of the breakfast timings and the quality of the food only added to the overall experience. This is... More

We went to a concert at Sherwood Forest and stayed here. It costs about £15 in a taxi to the venue but it was well worth it. We cannot say enough about this lovely guest house. It was a pleasure to stay here. Absolutely fantastic. Lovely people, spotlessly clean, delicious breakfast, and comfy beds!

Oak House is essentially a 5 star hotel disguised as a B&B. I have stayed in both rooms and they are quite marvelous – immaculately clean and dripping in comfort and luxury, complete with crisp bed linens, Egyptian cotton towels, hooded bathrobes, TV and CD players, quality hairdryers, and coffee, tea, bottled water and delicious cookie treats ( the latter... Its hard to put in to words what a perfect place to stay this is. Beautiful surroundings with Newstead Abbey just round the corner. I had an evening meal at "The Hut" which was very nice with the service and easy going approach. I havent mentioned the best bit of my trip, that was meeting Philippa and Richard what lovely... More
