We are not the first, nor shall we be the last, to say some lovely things about the Oak House B&B experience. We had a good friend who lived in Mansfield, and have traveled down many times from our cottage in Scotland to see her. Our only regret is that we hadn't found Oak House sooner. Our trip down this... We arrived to a lovely friendly welcome from Philippa and Richard (and Wellington, their cute labrador). We arrived very stressed after a five hour journey in Friday traffic but within minutes were settled in their guest lounge having tea and homemade yummy cake. The twin bedroom and ensuite bathroom were spotless and the beds extremely comfortable. The hosts provide lovely... More

Stayed overnight whilst househunting in the area. As others have said, the welcome is second to none - Wellington more than compensated for us missing our dogs left at home! The room was very comfortable and well appointed and the reception we received from both our hosts and other local residents confirmed to us that we have definitely chosen a... More

My husband and I recently spent 3 nights at Oak House as we where attending a family wedding in Blidworth. Phillipa and Richard made us feel so welcome with the offer of tea and cake on our arrival, very much appreciated after a long drive from Cairnryan. The house is beautiful and immaculately kept and the breakfast is soo.........good. Will... More

We have just spent 3 nights at Oak House as we were attending Patchings Art Festival in Nottingham! We cannot praise Phillipa and Richard, our hosts, enough! The house is beautifully appointed and is of the highest standard! The room was outstanding, and always stocked with fresh water, milk and the most delicious biscuits! The bed was so comfortable and... More

Recently returned to Oak House. Stayed in the twin room this time and found it equally comfortable, stylish and everything we wanted. Warmly welcomed. We enjoyed total comfort in this beautiful and immaculate house. Fabulously indulgent delicious breakfast cooked by talented Philippa. How reassuring in a changing world that some very special places stand revisiting. A delightful home and a... More

lovely immaculate private home. Had driven from Heathrow after a long flight-just a perfect setting to rest and rejuvenate. The owner is very kind-her home is modern and comfortable and well tended. One of the best nite's sleep I can remember!

I stayed here for 3 nights during a 17th Century re-enactment weekend at Newstead Abbey. I had their wonderful double room to myself which was spotlessly clean and well maintained with all the facilities one could wish for. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on (I would have loved to have taken it home... More
