We stayed here during our road trip through NS. Patrick was a really kind and helpful host. He was so nice to deal with. The motel is on a private beach and we really enjoyed this. My son had many adventures. Our back deck had a lovely view of the ocean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the AC kept the room cool. Sound was good - you could not hear anyone in the next rooms. I loved the vintage attributes of the room. I feel like there must be so much history and stories in this hotel. What a gem! We will be back on our next trip . Thank you Patrick Elizabeth

This is an older motel, but the location makes up for a lot. The room was spacious enough, a bit musty, but the view of the bay out on the back patio was fantastic! Breakfast is continental, but lots of fresh fruit and coffee. Joanne is fantastic!

Our hostess, Joanna was amazing. She was extremely warm and inviting and immediately the moment you arrived. She bakes the most delicious muffins for the continental breakfast and we were privilege to have her sing a few songs for us as we had our breakfast. She has an amazing voice and we told her she should be touring rather than working behind a desk and serving breakfast to people. LOL It’s certainly a place I’ll consider staying again. Nothing fancy however the hospitality provided was exceptional and made us feel at home. It was great to be able to walk on the shoreline when the tide was out and collect some shells, rocks and even some sea glass.

This is not worth your money or time. We ended up not staying after checking in. The room was very out dated with a smell I could not accept. Don't be fooled of the pictures you will find online. The lawn was outgrown and not trimmed. Both mirrors in the room were dirty and that was enough for me to lock the door behind me and drove away. Not worth the money and time.

Response from Albert LeBlanc, General Manager at Hedley House
Responded Sep 1, 2021
Well it’s difficult to reply to a review from someone who didn’t stay at Hedley and yet thought with a 5 minute peek they knew it. 479 reviews from people who actually stayed and experienced Hedley House tell a different tale. Those folks loved the private decks facing the sea and sunsets, fridges in the rooms, real hardwood floors, entertainment at breakfast and beachcombing at low tide on our lovely beach. Sad actually that Trip Advisor allows reviews at all from people who don’t stay at a place. Anyway, sorry that the hedge looked a little rough in front of your room ( it can grow a lot in 1 day of intense heat and humidity ) and the mirror had a streak of Windex on it. We wish you good fortune finding a place that suits you.

This property was once beautiful and had a reputation for fine food. Sadly, it has changed ownership and the owner is not on site. The motel units overlook the spectacular Annapolis Basin and each unit has a deck overlooking the water. The units and the whole property have been neglected and are in poor repair. It's a shame! It is overpriced given the state of the property. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable, the water pressure in the shower was good and breakfast is included.

Response from Albert LeBlanc, General Manager at Hedley House

We apologize you did not enjoy your stay, We had one room left that unfortunately the kitchenette needed to be repaired but had AC. We gave it to you at same price of the room you reserved which had no AC or Kitchenette. However i have to take the blame as i checked you in and did not make you aware the kitchenette did no work. We try to keep up with upgrades every year, We have changed tvs, New fridges, AC, Painted, New Beds and redone the hardwood floors in all the units. Most people enjoy it here and some come 3 or 4 times in the summer.

Stayed two nights on the recommendation of friends. From my conversation with Joanne on the phone, and then Albert when I had to call to rebook for another weekend, I knew we would be meeting the friendliest folks. Everyone that worked there was very friendly. Room was cozy, beds were comfy, private deck was big with a great view. Plenty of coffee in the room. I drink my coffee black with no sugar but Joanne also provided sugar. Those chain places give you a few k cups but no shortage of coffee here. Easy beach access. When the tide is out, a person could walk across to the campground on the other side. BBQs on site with tools, tables and lighters at the ready. Fire pit. We could park close to the room, which was nice. Joanne made sure no one went hungry at breakfast. When I told her my older son was back at the room with our little dog, she wrapped up a big plate of fruit to take back to him, along with one of her delicious homemade muffins. It's nice sitting at the main house chatting with the other guests. We are very pleased to have stayed at Hedley House By the Sea. Hope to see you again in the future.

I called them to let them know that I was coming but extremely late. They told me not to worry. They told me they will leave key in room so I can get in when I arrived. They gave us a double room for same price to be more comfortable,we were 4 people. Owner extremely charming. Staff extremely friendly. Room very extremely clean and the view was absolutely amazing. Breakfast was good. Owner even signed for us during breakfast.. Amazing We definitely come back.

Joanne was amazing with singing her Nova Scotia songs for us at breakfast The rooms are out of date and could use some tender loving care, but overall each room had a balcony with a wonderful view of the bay. Excellent place to stay while visiting Digby, very close for the ferry to Saint John and close to the Digby point road to go to Brier Island for whale watching

We spent one night at Hedley House after taking the ferry from St John to Digby The hotel is very close to Digby We were given rooms 14 and 15 which are adjoining so our teenage children stayed next door. The room was well equipped and included a private deck with a water view. The hotel is small and older, but somehow that just adds to it’s charm. Continental breakfast was included at the main house. The innkeepers used breakfast time to visit with each of the guests and played for us. It felt like a kitchen party. Thank you Joanne and Albert. Hedley House is the best spot in the area
