I challenge anyone to find a more generous naturally warm welcome than from Marlene and Marc. They are such a refreshing couple to this solo traveler....attention to detail, relaxed yet efficient - the bar is high people! Their home mixes soft luxury guest accommodation with that personal homeliness with all the right touches. For the value here its awesome. I... More

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at La Gargantua, including a 2 day cookery course. We arrived just in time for dinner on Thursday, to be met by Marlene and Marc and three other guests who had spent the afternoon cooking as the last day of their course. The fizz started flowing immediately and we felt at home... More

Just brilliant, as soon as we arrived it felt like a home from home. The cooking we did with Marlène was delicious (we got to eat everything we made!) and I learned a lot of new skills. A great few days with very welcoming hosts in a beautiful part of France. Thoroughly recommend it.

My husband and I spent last weekend at Le Gargantua, he for a two day cooking course and me to keep him company and to have a mini break. The house is lovely and the grounds are peaceful and beautiful. It's a typical french country house, renovated nicely, and really charming. The grounds are set with antique wood outdoor tables... We recently had the privilege of spending four days learning new cooking skills with excellent chef Marlene at this wonderful cooking school near Bordeaux in France. Not only was it incredibly informative but it was so much fun. We had the opportunity to learn about the local area, visit the village market and local prune producers as well as having... More

This is not just a place to stay, but a first class fully inclusive cooking holiday. I spent a fun 3 days doing the patisserie course. I learned to make chocolate eclairs, croissants, pain au chocolat, pain au raisin, macaroons, raspberry tarts and a beautiful peach and chocolate mousse dessert. I stayed in a large room with ensuite shower room.... More

A very basic hotel in beautiful landscape. The rooms are reasonably spacious with simple furniture. The historic construction generates seriously cracking floor. There is no air-conditioning. Overall, the room and the shower room were clean. The breakfast was very tasty, benefitting of jam made by the owner. Then place to say no more than few days it is ideally calm... More

Marlene and Marc were the perfect hosts for a French Patisserie course. The setting is amazing set in the countryside just outside Anzex amongst fields of sunflowers. Our room was clean, large and comfortable, Marc's food was delicious and there was endless amounts of it! Local Buzet wine is very nice too. Marlene's tuition is well paced, knowledgeable and expertly... More

I have just stayed for 3 nights at Le Gargantua for a visit to the beautiful South West which included a patisserie cookery course. This was a treat from my Partner for my Birthday and was the best Birthday present I think I've ever had! We arrived on saturday afternoon to be presented with homemade canapes and a homemade aperitif... More
