The room was very clean and bedding excellent. Very old "granny" furniture. No hot water in the morning and the owner didn't seems concerned when I told them I could not use the shower. He said the hotel shares all the hot water. They took us down the street to the other hotel, which was an unpleasant surprise. Worth the... More

My husband and I left Washington DC amidst a terrific snow storm in February to join a very compatible group of travelers in Sorges, France for a week of fantastic meals, excursions and conviviality with Patti Ravenscroft, our guide, and her husband, Kent. The moment we arrived (our plane was delayed a day, but no matter--we were brought up to... More

After reading all the great reviews on tripadvisor we booked a couple of nights up from the other hotels we stayed in the Dordogne. The room was a good size and nicely decorated and quiet away from the road at the back of the hotel. I guess we might of picked the wrong night as we waited 40 minutes after... More

People are friendly and you discuss with them. The meals are good and the local wine has to be tested. The rooms and the swimming pool are OK. In 20 minutes drive you are in Perigueux. Book a room to have good break in Dordogne.

A beautiful four course meal which was liberally adorned with the local truffle. Truffle in the jus, truffle in the potatoes etc. We were also treating ourselves whilst on holiday, and had the paired wines to go with each course. Again the pairings were delightful and added a special touch to the evening. The pre-course extra dishes were a nice... More

After a 15 year wait we revisited Auberge de la Truffe and it lived up to all of our expectations. Superb service, sublime food and excellent wine. The grande finale was a lift back to our house from the grandson of the owner when patchy mobile phone signals left us unable to contact our transport home. We are already planning... More

We were traveling in the region and needed lunch. We were not smartly dressed but as they advertised a 12 Euros menu and we were hungry we went in. Wow... the 12 Euro meal was great and the staff treated us as anyone else. Typically French. The food was 10/10 and the service was as if we were in a... More

While visiting the lands of foie gras and truffle, how better to learn the culture than to take a cooking class with a chef that has been here for 30 years? The weekend cooking class was well worth the investment. The price is reasonable because you get 6 excellent meals, two nights stay in a luxury room, a farm tour,... More
