I stayed at this hostel twice ecause it is so awesome! First i stayed with friends in the dorm. It has hand made 3-stories-bunk-beds made of logs and the beds are incredibly comfy. You can see and feel the owner and staff care about the hostel. they create a great vibe and make everybody feel at home, thanks helena, brad... More

This is one of my favorite hostels in South Africa so far. It's very rustic and relaxed so make sure that's what you're looking for; if you're not ok with animals roaming around, or if you're looking for impeccable cleanliness, then this may not be for you. But if you want a really chill place with cool staff and an... More

We only stayed 1 night in this funky hostel but we loved it. The room was simple but with a very cool decoration and cozy. The barbecued chicken with salads, potatoes and bread was amazing! They really create a very warm and nice atmosphere around the fire, where you can hang out with the staff and other people staying. Pool... More

This hostel is perfect. We are travelling across the Garden Route and it was a brilliant two nights at Dijembe. Really welcoming staff and the dinners were superb (we had roast chicken and it was lovely/also really well priced). Met some great people round the fire at night and shared a few beers and stories. Clean room and the hostel... More

We stayed for a few nights in this hostel with some friends while on our way to Cape Town and we could not have chosen a better one. The building is pretty and an idyllic wooden house. There's a campfire burning outside and a fireplace inside. The dorm rooms have sturdy wooden beds which are super comfy. There's a few... More

We were driving between Nature's Valley to Jeffrey's Bay when decided to make a stopover in Dijembe hostel. We really enjoyed our stay and would love to come back again if we are in SA! Thanks for making our visit (in 2011) most memorable.

Had a wicked time at Dijembe, James and Mirjam were very helpful and made us feel at home. The atmosphere is very chilled, very easy to meet people especially when you buy in to the Braai at night, which is delicious and they cater to veggies. We stayed 2 nights, and in this time did kayaking and did the bungee... More

We stayed at Dijembe for one night in order to hike Storm's River Mouth. We were welcomed warmly at reception, though the power was out temporarily. We were also considering a horseback ride, and the hosts were incredibly accommodating and genuinely kind, even though we were difficult to pin down on a time. This hostel was one of the most... Of all the hostels I've been during my garden route journey, Dijembe was by far the best one! The staff, the animals (especially my friend Baz the goat), the pancakes in the mornings, the warm beer bread in the evenings, the music, the atmosphere... It all made it an unique experience, one I will always remember for sure.

I stayed here for four nights and honestly didn't want to leave. If you want a friendly, chilled, laid-back atmosphere with quirky additions like a goat who thinks he's a dog, limitless pancakes for breakfast, and kittens on your lap, then you'll absolutely adore this place. Close to Bloukran's Bridge for the bungee jump and surrounded by magical forest trails,... More
