Since we got home from our holiday in Porto and Armamar, we have been telling everyone we know about it. The landscape is stunningly beautiful, people were kind to us everywhere we went, and the wines and ports of the region are world-renowned. As an added extra, we found good value in every establishment. But, without question, the icing on... More

Casa da Farmacia was quaint and beautiful. Amazing from start to end. Jose, the owner, was so helpful. He printed out maps of daily excursions for us and gave us all sorts of helpful hints on the way. The rooms are beautiful, but so are the common bar room and common entertainment room which we enjoyed daily upon our return.... More

We were a bit skeptic - could it really be so good as all the people described? It was BETTER. It is not only the location - Jose is the person, who turned our stay into the best experience we had so far. He was really taking care of us, we arrived late without lunch and before dinner. He prepared... More

We were so fortunate to find Casa da Farmacia! In our five weeks of travelling, this was our best hotel experience! The rooms are absolutely spotless! Breakfast was a treat! And the owners, Jose and Marlene, are so hospitable! They had many suggestions for our stay in the Douro region along with maps and other helpful notes. We were so... More

We booked two rooms at this b&b in May for one night. The owners were very welcoming and ensured that our stay was perfect. Rooms were spotlessly clean, we'll presented and very comfortable with lovely balcony views over the town. We ate dinner in the hotel which was exceptional, all served by Jose the owner who took great pride in... More

We have spent one night in the Casa de Farmazia. We could not wish more from the small and warm mini-hotel (10 rooms): Jose (the owner), his welcome (with port wine), the cosy room. Every corner of the hotel (reception, reading/TV room, dining area) well thought and architected. The room exceptionaly clean. The breakfest plentiful and rewarding (cold dishes only).... More

We enjoyed everything about our 2 night stay in Casa da Farmácia. The accommodation was attractive and comfortable, the breakfast was excellent and our host, José was attentive to every detail. We particularly appreciated the information he provided which allowed us to see places we had not even intended visiting and helped to give us a more comprehensive understanding of... More

The staff was super attentive and helped us out with everything including restaurant and trip options. The rooms were very good and the property is centrally located in Armamar (not a big place, but still pleasant).

They make you feel a VIP. Gourgeus accomodations. Confortable, friendly and you should try all the different goodies in their breakfast. The little city is cute and near douro, where most of the wine fieds are. Jose can gibe you a wine masterclass and indicate the best ones to visit, try and buy.

Armamar is a lovely, quiet place in the hills and the hotel is really very, very friendly. The hotel is right in the middle of Armamar and opposite the taxi rank and church so although this is a remote place there is a feeling of sa
