From the initial friendly greeting at the boat ramp, to the greeting that awaited us at the camp by the entire staff- we knew we would enjoy our stay. Rooms are simply decorated in white calico – making them look quite pristine and not as dark. Again there were single beds (apparently they do have a few doubles), a fan... More

This was our first visit here although we know the area well. This is an Island in the Meanders and Oxbows of the Kwando river before it becomes first the Linyati and then the Chobe. Whilst water levels vary depending on what comes down from Angola or indeed back up from the Linyati at times, Mazambala does remain a dry... More

Mazambala is a great place to stay, offering simple and unpretentious accommodation at a good price in an idyllic location. The lodge is reached by motor boat, after leaving your vehicle at the campsite. The boat transfer takes about 15 minutes and is in itself an enjoyable trip. On arrival we were met by Stephanie, who showed us around while... More

Access to the lodge is by boat, we had to leave our car in a monitored parking area. The lodge is in the middle of the Kwando river floodplain. The accomodation is in simple but comfortable thatched 'cottages', ours had a double and two single beds (all with mosquito nets). The lodge supplied mosquito repellant and room spray. Breakfast was... More

Andre is a first class manager/owner. He is on top of everything, makes you feel very welcome. His staff is professional; the guide for the game drive was quite good. The chalets are very nice and the gardens are beautiful. It was a pleasure to visit Mazambala Island Lodge. The only criticism I would have is that the observation tower... More

Situated in beautiful island surroundings along the banks of a river is the Mazambala Island Lodge. The rooms again are standard for the lodges in Africa, and thankfully it was quite warm during the night here so the mesh windows were welcome. The food was some of the best food we had whilst eating at the lodge, a delightful pasta... More

Mazambala lodge is beatifully situated at an island at the river Kwando, and you arrive there after a short boatrip from the mainland (guarded parking there). The main building has a restaurant which serves fantastic food (vegetarians well catered for), and two viewing decks. One is covered and has nice lounge chairs to relax in, while overlooking the flood plains... More
