We have visited this hostel 3 times, the first 2 times staying in the hostel proper, the last time in one of the 'rorbu's (cottages) as we were 6 persons travelling together. The area is beautiful, you can walk up the mountains or borrow a boat and go fishing. Roar is extremely helpful and for example once invited us to... More

One of the best hostels in the world! Roar (the owner) = the man! (My trip there was in August 2009)

The owner, Roar Justad, is mythical, and the place is fantastic: you only hear the seagulls and you can live among fantastic colours, aboveall during the summer nights, when it's always clear. You can meet people from all the world, the accomodation is simple but very cheap. You can fish when you want, because Roar gives you the boats free,... More

It is a nice place in quite boring city. There is not much to see in Stamsund but it is a good place to rest. The hostel is located in an old-fishermen house, it has also 6 or 7 houses, much more comfortable then beds in a dormitory. It is the cheapest place I managed to find in whole Norway... More

4 of us decided to book into this hostel after we'd heard a positive review from another tourist we'd met a few days earlier. Finding the hostel wasn't too hard - there is not much else in the very small and quiet town of Stamsund. Upon arriving we were met by the owner and manager of the hostel who goes... More

100 nok (dorm) , very friendly place. Free boat, nice kitchen and common area, interesting hostel owner, the owner will offer you more comfortable bed if you stay longer, need extra coin for shower. Picnic every day :)

We have just returned to England after 3 wonderful nights at Stamsund Hostel. The situation of this place is wonderful. The Hostel is at the end of an idyllic granite inlet which also has a small marina. The Hostel consists of a huge wood decked jetty and several wooden buildings ranging from small self contained cabins which could sleep a... More

We stayed here for 4 days (planned 3 but extended it. If we could, we would have stayed still longer) Stamsund Hostel is run by Roar ... who's very friendly. You can't book it online ... nor is there an email address / fax. You have to call Roar & book it. Bad: Washing + Drying machines not very good.... More
