We stayed at Saracens Head hotel on the last weekend of June whilst attending a wedding nearby. We paid £200 for two nights (Friday and Saturday). We didn't realised it was a pub hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was quite small. The TV in our room wasn't working properly. The free WiFi kept getting disconnected.... More

Took 4 Swedish guests to lunch. Simple basic orders. Only 4 other people in bar area. Waited 55minutes for lunch and when arrived the food was cold and the orders incorrect. The staff could not even get a simple drinks order correct. David Donavon the owner should be ashamed of the service but when the situation explained he was utterly... More

We were off to a wedding nearby, so chose the Saracen on the grounds that the next nearest couple of places got very poor reviews. It was no great shakes either, sadly. It was £100 for a room for two (room 203), and it was just about passable. The bedroom was quite shabby, the decor awful, though the beds were... More

We had our wedding reception held here on sat 28th of June 2014 and we had the honeymoon suite the King Charles suite the night of the wedding and the night after as we're having a late honeymoon. The room is amazing such a comfy bed and the bath wow! We picked this as our venue last year and have... More

Omg this was so good the hotel is amazing the staff can not do enough for you and the drinks in the bar are a very good price too. We got upgraded to the honeymoon suite so for £65 a room for two and breakfast this was amazing but to be honest the staff made it

Short stay in this old coaching inn. Its quite quaint, but seems stuck in the past, probably reflecting on old glories. Rooms comfortable, but a bit dated, but south well is a pleasant place with a lovely cathedral

We have stayed at the Saracens Head many times and always enjoy our stays there. It is our preferred hotel for stays anywhere in the Nottingham area. The staff are excellent. The rooms can be eclectic, varying from the truly modern to those of real age and character and the clocks can be an experience. A wonderful hotel.

Very Good: the location-Southwell on a nice day was a revelation. Lovely cathedral , nice town centre and good local walks Very Good-the ambience. Its historical appearance and history conveys a sense of time. Very attractive. OKish-the rooms- functional at best with sound insulation an issue Good: the staff were relaxed , friendly and nice to be around. But there... More

The Inn where Charles I surrendered, solid gold history. Lovely place to stay, few minutes from the Minster - great Norman architecture with lots of later beautiful additions and great music. Not far from A1 and roads around not clogged in the morning. Good place for visiting a wider area. Has all the charm of an old Inn, but with... More

Our classic car club was looking for a hotel that would be centrally placed for a tour of the East Midlands. I have to say that choice is fairly limited given that we required 26 rooms. The Saracen's Head is ideally placed in Southwell for exploring the region. Effectively we took over all the room availability at the hotel as... More
