I travel to the UK from Australia at least once per year and stayed at the Saracens in Southwell at least 5 times now. Where do I start? The historical presence but modern comfort is unprecedented. You feel like your in a castle with hundreds of years of past wrapping itself around your mind and soul. The staff and their... More

We spent two nights in Southwell staying at the Sarcens Head BUT If only we had been allocated a different room I would have come away a great deal happier. Saying that I could possible return at some time (in a different room) as the hotel itself was very clean, full of character, lovely outside area and provided a good... More

Having driven to a café a few miles away from Southwell and discovered it closed (when it was advertised as open) we drove back into town and decided on a whim to have lunch at the Saracen’s Head. How pleased we did. We were fairly early for lunch but it was a very hot day and the atmospheric and historic... More

We stayed at Saracens Head hotel on the last weekend of June whilst attending a wedding nearby. We paid £200 for two nights (Friday and Saturday). We didn't realised it was a pub hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was quite small. The TV in our room wasn't working properly. The free WiFi kept getting disconnected.... More

Took 4 Swedish guests to lunch. Simple basic orders. Only 4 other people in bar area. Waited 55minutes for lunch and when arrived the food was cold and the orders incorrect. The staff could not even get a simple drinks order correct. David Donavon the owner should be ashamed of the service but when the situation explained he was utterly... More

We were off to a wedding nearby, so chose the Saracen on the grounds that the next nearest couple of places got very poor reviews. It was no great shakes either, sadly. It was £100 for a room for two (room 203), and it was just about passable. The bedroom was quite shabby, the decor awful, though the beds were... More

We had our wedding reception held here on sat 28th of June 2014 and we had the honeymoon suite the King Charles suite the night of the wedding and the night after as we're having a late honeymoon. The room is amazing such a comfy bed and the bath wow! We picked this as our venue last year and have... More

Omg this was so good the hotel is amazing the staff can not do enough for you and the drinks in the bar are a very good price too. We got upgraded to the honeymoon suite so for £65 a room for two and breakfast this was amazing but to be honest the staff made it

Short stay in this old coaching inn. Its quite quaint, but seems stuck in the past, probably reflecting on old glories. Rooms comfortable, but a bit dated, but south well is a pleasant place with a lovely cathedral

We have stayed at the Saracens Head many times and always enjoy our stays there. It is our preferred hotel for stays anywhere in the Nottingham area. The staff are excellent. The rooms can be eclectic, varying from the truly modern to those of real age and character and the clocks can be an experience. A wonderful hotel.
