This looks a lovely Hotel on the website but a bit expensive (we are pensioners so have to be careful). However, when I had to cancel my telephone reservation due to bad weather which affected myself and many December travellers throughout the UK , I was told that they would still charge the room fee to the credit card I... My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights for a wedding. We arrived late following 38 hours travelling so were exhausted, however our room was very comfotable and we relaxed instantly. The breakfast was really enjoyable both days, and the service by Nicola and Juliet was freindly and welcoming. All in all I would stay here again, and would... More

We stayed in the Saddle Room for five nights whilst we went to the Southwell Folk Festival. A nice large room and en-suite bathroom. Warm, comfortable and we slept very well. Tea and coffee making facilities with small fridge on landing where milk was kept plus small cold sparkling water bottles were provided, also juice. Plus chocolate biscuits. Room decoration... More

My husband and I just spent a week at The Old Forge in Southwell. We were in the Saddle Room and I have to say, we loved it. Typical old English and exactly the experience we wanted. Comfortable bed, roomy bathroom, and cups and saucers and tea, which was wonderful for the evenings when we stayed in. Breakfast was really... More

We had a wonderful weekend at the old forge and really enjoyed staying at a bed and breakfast which oozes character. We had everything required from and bed and breakfast... a comfortable bed, warm room, fresh milk to put into your tea or coffee (rather than those uht things) and if it takes your fancy a minibar. I was also... More

We were looking forward to our stay in Southwell and The Old Forge but we were disappointed when we arrived. We could smell damp in our room and the room, in our opinion, was in a state of poor repair - particularly when taking into account the cost of £80 per night. There was an obvious large patch on the... More

I am deeply saddened by the severity of these comments. We did have a slight problem with damp at the time these guests stayed. It has since been resolved. We have also re furnished the Saddle room. I feel it has been some what exaggerated. I decided myself to sleep in that room the following night and my clothes most... More

Full of character, very relaxed approach and very comfortable. Hot water bottles supplied including one in a woollen cover. Proper feather pillows. Wide choice of teas. The fridge was in the bathroom and held an half bottle of milk - much better than the usual mini cartons of unpalatable UHT. Quiet at night despite being right in the centre of... More

This B&B is lovely! Our twin room was large, comfortable and very pretty. There are added luxuries like a selection of teas, from fruit and herb to my fave green tea, and more importantly fresh milk and juice! The beds were very comfy with soft pillows and bedlinen. Our breakfast was a delight too. Everything was fresh and cooked to... More

I recently stayed at the Old Forge for the Southwell Races. It was a lovely contrast to the usual bland hotels I'm used to staying in. The place is full of personality, with the traditional decor, beautiful conservatory/pond area and the numerous amusing conversations with Juliet and Nicola. I stayed in the Minster room which was clean, comfy and had... More
