Warmly welcomed on arrival and shown our room which was adequate for our needs. Then it became apparent that the day to day running was haphazard at times. The manager was really friendly, enthusiastic and a really good barman however not sure his talents stretch to the b and b side of things. Simple things like planning enough gas for... More

This is a review of the pub only, not the b&b facilities. Now run by the excellent new landlord Paddy, the Bramley Apple has, after the enforced post flood closedown and a somewhat moribund period just before the flood, re-established itself as one of the great trio of pubs on Southwell's 'Sunset Strip' along with The Hearty Goodfellow and The... Booked 4 rooms for Friday and Saturday night for a friends wedding. Brilliant service as soon as we walked through the door on Friday evening, bar staff friendly and polite and all of the rooms were clean and well presented. We were asked what time we would like breakfast (which was really important as we had a wedding to get... More

Like a previous reviewer we also had a bad experience here last weekend which was very disappointing as I had expected much better, given the ratings on here. We also came down at 8.30 for breakfast to find the lights out downstairs and a workman knocking at the door who'd been waiting since 8am to get in! Our bin had... More

I recently stayed here as part of a short trip up to Newark. After a long drive and arriving late and very tired, we found our sanctuary! We were so warmly greeted and were almost immediately sitting with a beautiful glass of wine and eating the most scrumptious food... exactly what an 'Inn' should be!! We stayed up late laughing... The bathroom had hair in the shower, the bin had not been emptied. The manager was very friendly but maybe too friendly with a lock in until after 2.30am. The breakfast sounded great and we were asked when we would like it 8.15 sounded reasonable. We came down at this Time to find no one around. By 9 there was... More

Arriving late to the recently refurbished and re-opened Inn i was welcomed by Becky at the bar who organised my room and let me know it was their popular Tapas night .All the plates were home cooked by Jim n Jerry and they managed to squeeze me in .It was a case of deciding what NOT to have as all... My fianceé and I stayed for 1 night as we were going to a wedding in town. When we couldn't find a taxi one of the staff members was kind enough to drive us to the venue. The room was lovely and clean and the breakfast was full English, satisfying and delicious. We would defiantly come back and recommend it... More

We were attending a classic car function nearby, and cold-called at the pub. Very friendly people, nice chats in the bar later in the evening. The room was pretty basic for the highish price, but being newly refurbished after the floods, it was clean and nicely presented. Good breakfast included. Its only a short walk into the town which is... More
