We stayed at Summerplace for 5 nights over Easter. We were very impressed by the professional service provided by the hosts. We had a seaview room which had a little terrace with beautiful views and colourful flowers. The room was immaculately clean, the beds very comfy and tastefully furnished. There is a generous mini-bar policy- everything in it is free... More

This is a genuine "boutique hotel", noteworthy for the particular attention that "team" Summerplace place on both the detail of service and their tastefully chosen artifacts throughout the guest house. These two charming characters are the dream team hosts, considering carefully and anticipating successfully every aspect of guest requirement. e.g. the expresso machine, daily fresh ice placed in fridge for... Barry and Johannes were perfect hosts and their home at SummerPlace really is a home from home for anyone looking for peace and quiet, good food, a lovely garden, superb breakfasts, a free mini bar and a wood burner on cool evenings. Pool was unbelievably cold as was the case in both the other places we stayed on Madeira. Apparently... More

If there were ever a place that should be used as a role-model for every other guesthouse, Summerplace would be the obvious choice. Perched up a hill overlooking the shores of western Madeira, it not only serves as the perfect base for discovering the endless miles of Levadas, but offers a haven of childless peace and tranquillity that would sooth... Everything about our stay was perfect from the incredible breakfast to the beautiful room to the amazing and kind hosts. Every detail is considered, every morning we had different place settings and the artwork and collections in the house and classy and interesting. Would recommend to anyone - also it's worth it to get a room with a view as... More

We stayed here on our honeymoon and arrived with very high expectations due to many reviews that talked highly of the place. I have to say our expectations were not only fulfilled but they even highly exceeded them. Their effort to make your stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible and their customer focus should be used as an example... More

This little B&B is located up in the mountains with a wonderful view down to the sea. While we were there, we often had clouds coming up the mountains below us. We had the room facing the pool and as the other guests were out for hikes most of the time, we had the pool to ourselves most often (when... More

We spent 6 nights at Summerplace Guesthouse as part of our Madeiran honeymoon and can't say enough wonderful things about it. Our first 4 nights we had the place to ourselves and really enjoyed getting to know Barry and Johannes. They are such thoughtful hosts and have paid attention to the details that make the guesthouse such a lovely stay.... More

Summerplace Guesthouse is one of the best places I've ever stayed at. I'm so sad not to be there anymore! The guesthouse itself is beautifully designed, set in the hillside, surrounded by greenery with a great view of the Ocean. The decor is even better, I was mesmerised by all of the artefacts that had been collected from all over... More

We have just returned from a week at this lovely, guest house, situated on the top of a hill so the views over the sea and countryside are breathtaking. But bear this in mind if you want wall to wall sunshine, it is a few degrees colder up there. We didn't venture into the pool, but the pool and gardens... More
