Pestana Pousadas are to be congratulated on this original and unique property which combines a contemporary wing and design with a castle with a whole series of fascinating spaces to explore. The staff here are outstanding, thoughtful and considerate. The rooms are very comfortable and well appointed. You are on the edge of the small village of Flor de Rosa... More

As part of a trip of one week, travelling from pousada to pousada, we stayed in the pousada of Crato, located in the adjacent quiet village Flor da Rosa. Staying in a castle is a great experience, and as we were able to obtain one of the special rooms in the tower at only a small supplement, we really felt... More

The Pousada is, I think, the nicest looking structure from outside among the pousadas -- with an impressive history to boot. It is a postcard pretty castle especially at night, I couldn't stop photographing the facade and the entrance areas to the pousada on the 3 days we were there. Note that I'm not including in this review my impressions... More

Having visited seven Pousadas to date, the Pousada at Flor da Rosa does not fail to match the excellent standards of this hotel chain. As with other Pousadas, this building is historically interesting and unique. It is well maintained, it is in a tranquil environment, the rooms are excellent and the hotel staff are friendly and welcoming. Wonderful for a... More

We are riding our bicycles from Pousada to Pousada in The Alantejo. The people in Portugal are so friendly. Tonight's dinner was fantastic. Paula and Albierto took excellent care of us. They helped us with the language and the local customs. And this is all on top of staying in a Castle! Wonderful

Plunging into history! A wonderful getaway in a true historical hotel. We felt transported to another era in the magnificent Master Suite. The whole place is beautifully decorated blending modern design with age-old monastery and fortress architecture. The ambience takes you to the blissful silence of times gone by. Don't expect a hotel abuzz with activities and resort animation! Abiding to... More

This is a pousada in an old convent, very elegantly converted into a hotel, with a tasteful mix of new and old elements. The room was spacious with all amenities, and quiet (no traffic noises). An elegant restaurant with a good wine selection, although less so on the wine-per-glass area (which is unfortunately common and understandable).

This is a lovely hotel with wonderful arched ceilings and a nice small museum of paintings and statues that is well worth visiting and photographing. Having said that: (from my notes) Almost no one speaks English! The rooms are dark and while there is a nice desk, just the right height for typing on the computer, with a nice light,... More

The way that the hotel has been grafted onto the old convent is very well done. Certain of the common areas are in the old part and are very attractive. The rooms themselves are spacious and quiet. We also ate in the restaurant and the meal was very good. Have stayed in a number of pousadas and this was probably... More

This was one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed. The former convent has been restored and the new construction of the hotel is fully integrated in the old building. The service is excellent and super friendly. A note to thank Alberto Valadas for the warm welcome and the guided tour.
