beautiful surroundings, rustic (not elegant) but very beautiful villas, yes- ecothinking on the island!!! :-) , only outdoor showers, incredilby arrogant manager and sometimes unfriendly and poor service, not like a 5 star hotel (like they say on their website), phone cannot be used from room after reception is closed, dresscode at this nature space seems rediciolous to me- it... A beautiful setting and excellent service. But very over-priced - we spent nearly £300 (13,600 rupees) on drinks and the a la carte fish platter, in 3 days without going mad. Don't touch the mini-bar - a half-bottle of ordinary white wine was £25. People stay here for 3 days on average - we can see why at these prices.... More

We came here at the end of our honeymoon in August 2013 and it was the perfect end to our trip!! As you drive in through the gates your breath is taken away by the beauty of the gardens. As it was a quiet time of year for them we were very lucky to be upgraded to one of their... More

On this our second visit to Lakaz Chamarel we were delighted to be offered an upgrade on arrival. Our sea view suite with private pool offered such luxury and comfort that it was hard to drag ourselves away to explore the island ( we had hired a car- which I recommend ). Intermittent rain brought welcome relief from the heat... More

After a week in a beach hotel in the north we were happy to see the southern part of Mauritius and the nice landscape it has to offer. The Lakaz Chamarel really can be described as paradise - everything is just great - service (the manager Warren and his team do a great job!), location and the special feel it... More

Wonderful wonderful place to stay. The only thing I didn't like was the journey there. We arrived at night time and left very early in the morning, both times in the dark and the twisted roads leading to the Lodge made me feel very travel sick, probably because I had nothing to focus on. The lodge is beautiful and full... More

For the 2nd time we visited Lakaz Chamarel and were warmly welcomed by Warren and Peggy and other staffmembers. All the personnel is so friendly and helpfull. Our suite Dame Créole with a small private swimmingpool is overlooking the hotelgrounds. All rooms are separate houses all over the ground and they are all different and lovely. Diner and breakfast are... More

Having rental car to get around this turned out to be gray place: lush gardens, quiet, good breakfast outside assured good start of another day. Beaches and black gorge area close by. Pool would be ok when less chilly, but then we're used to 28+ C. Open air shower was lovely. Unobstructed view from room ( "caz africa") and short... More

We only ate here for lunch, but we were very well looked after and the food was delicious, but the setting was the selling point. Originally a private house that has been extended and with a very African feel. The gardens are full of tropical plants and trees and it must be wonderful to spend a relaxing time there away... More

Our trip took place a while ago but we still have very fond memories! A fantastic place! Location, location, location but off the beaten track. We stayed in one of the (then) new villas with private pool and got a free villa next door for our children! We hadn ´t even booked a villa but the owners were very kind... More
