I took the cheaper option - a basic two bed room with shared facilities. The door and windows of the room were open when I went in but after having been closed for a while there was a strong musty smell which was not so pleasant. They certainly have a problem with dampness. I was only intending to stay one... More

We stayed at this wonderful resort the nights before and after our Heaphy Track experience. Tania, checked all our details for us to make sure our trip to the start of the track (by helicopter with packs dropped off at Perry Saddle Hut!) went smoothly. We were also able to leave our car at the Resort while walking. The Roast Pork... More

We had a very pleasant stay at this delightful haven in Karamea. The room was spacious, spotless and very comfortable with a small kitchenette and microwave, and a very spacious bathroom. Car parking is available on site along with excellent restaurant and true warm and friendly West Coast hospitality from all the staff. We only wished we could have stayed... More

We found the motel eventually – the sign blew down in November! If you reach the museum, you have gone too far. Friendly welcome, but accommodation disappointing. Basic room. No cooking facilities, no storage, not even a fridge, let alone a TV, hairdryer or glasses. However there is a communal fridge and minimal cooking facilities along with an ancient TV... More

I stayed for two nights with a friend in an ensuite studio room. Room was spotless and spacious. Bed firm and comfortable. The place was busy but still quiet for sleeping. Customer service was very friendly and responsive. All good really. Food as others have said was average but ok. Substantial sized plates. V busy the first night we ate... More

Not the best food but perfectly fine. Since there are only two restaurants in town, you better like this one! I had a few meals there and the two bests were the thai chicken and the chicken/bacon salad. They were both very good and I would happily eat these two meals again. Portions are quite big.

We had arranged to stay at the local camping ground, but on arrival we found the rest of our group was staying at the local hotel or this Hotel. The staff are wonderful, very friendly and helpful. The beds are comfortable and the rooms very tidy, but lying in bed, clearly hearing the unit next door using the toilet was... More

I haven't stayed overnight at the Last Resort in years, so can only comment on the restaurant and bar. Had a meal there recently so here goes - Had a steak, which was average. Not bad, just not memorable. However others at the table rated their meals well and they had some interesting options available. Biggest downside was the wooden... More

Didn't stay in the hotel as we were staying at a friends bach but spent New Years Eve and had a great time. Also had several other meals on different days - the food was great - generous sizes and very enjoyable - the service was excellent. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming - overall a great place!
