We've just come back from a fantastic weekend spent at Captain Howey Hotel. Our family were there to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday. The rooms were very comfortable and clean and had everything in them that you would need. The food was excellent (the breakfast really did set you up for the day). The staff went above and beyond on... More

We stopped here for a weekend whilst visiting the area. It's located well with easy access to the rest of the area, Dungeness in particular. Despite the initial concern about the tired exterior, it turned out to be a delightful stay for us. The room was pleasant although the lack of a headboard seemed unusual but didn't stop us getting... Stayed for one night recently. Very pleasant and friendly staff. Bit of a hiccup initially with the booking but soon sorted. Luggage was carried up for us, and the room was very clean and larger than some we have stayed in, with room for a table and chairs. Good bedding and towels and we had a good nights sleep. Tea,... The staff are all very friendly and make you feel really welcome. The hotel is directly across the road from New Romney station on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch railway, so is ideally situated for that, especially as some of the rooms overlook the track - perfect for railway buffs who want to take photos and videos of the steam... A few of us stayed at the Captain Howey on a golf trip to nearby Littlestone GC. Our rooms were recently decorated, generously appointed and very comfortable. The hotel staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. At breakfast we were offered the full English - bacon, sausage, egg, tomato, hash brown, mushrooms, fried bread, baked beans and toast... More

I can only echo the other recent reviewers. Don't judge by the exterior. Friendly staff, comfortable and clean rooms and a lovely breakfast (juice, cereal, real coffee and a full English). We stayed with relatives who were also impressed. We stayed for one night while visiting the RHDR railway. Two doubles and a single. All en suite with a nice... More

As previous reviews say from outside it does have a basic pub appearance but once inside you are greeted by friendly & helpful staff. Our room was very clean & overlooked the RH & DR. Our room had an extra bed so we had 2 adults & 1 child in there - I must say my daughter was impressed with... More

Having received friendly and helpful service prior to arrival I was not disappointed in anything when I arrived. The owners were on holiday but service was first rate with nothing too much trouble. The rooms are clean and attractive with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was great and the evening meals delicious and good value for money. I... More

When we drove up we were rather concerned at the basic pub appearance. First entry into the bar gives an OK impression and, contrary to an earlier review, they serve a great pint of Bombardier. All concerns put aside by the welcome from our hosts, the cleanliness of the rooms, and general understanding of excellent customer service. It's not the... More
