Plus Points: - the Onsen is exactly what you want in a Japanese hotel bath. Don't bother using the (frankly crap!) shower facilities in your bedroom. - located very close to the lake 100 metres) - walking distance (12 minutes) to the Kachikachi-yama Ropeway (mechanical lift) and observatory area that, at an altitude of 1,075 meters, gives a complete view... Travelled here in a group tour and stayed one night (thankfully only one). I will start with the positives. The rooms are large by Japanese standards and if you are lucky, you will have a nice view of the lake and Mount Fuji. The staff is very nice. Although I didn't have time to use the onsen, it looked just... More

I'll try to make this simple. Like = Very large room (By Japanese standard), traditional Japanese style and service (which means the hotel looks cool, and the service is reliable), very helpful with the pickup/dropoff service at Kawaguchiko station, AWESOME onsen for newbies since it is sort of "private"......not sure what to call it really....it would make sense if you... This resort is about 5 minutes drive to the Kawaguchiko bus station which the resort also offer free transportation to and from the station. (You can give them a call once you arrived there) We booked a Japanese room with dinner and breakfast. The room is large, airy, clean, everything works well. There are separated toilet and bathroom space in... More

For most of my solo travels I have stayed in backpackers hostels and guesthouses. However, this hotel did not even come close to the standards I expected of somewhere which I considered to be one up from the aforementioned 'budget' accommodation. I booked a Japanese style dormitory room which was double the price I have payed elsewhere for the same... More

Friendly, Traditional Japanese Hotel. With with very helpful staff (even if their English isn't the best - the Do try) The place is clean, has a shuttle to/from the bus station, it's close to the lake and free Wifi. The ofuro is open from 6am to midnight. Couldn't find anything bad/negative to say about this place if you paid me... More

Royal Hotel Kawaguchiko is located across the street from the lake. Some rooms have views of Mount Fuji (ours didn´t...). From the station it is a short ride by taxi. The staff at checkin was very friendly and helpful, rooms were OK. The bathing area was just magnificent with fantastic outdoor pools in a beautiful setting. Breakfast was excellent. Definitely... We were a group of 8 people, my own family of 5, my sister and a couple,(our visiting relatives from Australia). We all stayed in one room Japanese style, so that our visitors can experience the traditional Japanese futon bed, it was good enough. It's just that we were not able to make advance reservation for our dinner so we... More

We stayed in Japanese style room for 1 night. The room is ok, quite comfortable. But we need to walk 20 minutes to look for food. If you want to order food from hotel, u need to make advanced reservation. However, there is 2 bus stops near the hotel, and you can purchase Fuji bus one day pass to travel... More

I stayed there 2 nights. I got a pick up at the station. I do not have a phone so I went to the tourism office and they gently proposed to call the hotel for me. I was not sure when I will be arriving. Originally I booked a dorm but got an upgrade to a room Japanese style. The... More
