This was a wonderful experience in a traditional Japanese ryokan, complete with baths for both women and men and a nice spa for massages and facials. Both Japanese and Western food was served and enjoyed both. We had a spectacular view across the lake to Mt. Fuji! Definitely worth navigating the 3 trains from Tokyo to experience this weekend in... This hotel was an amazing experience. From the shuttle from the train station to the service to your front door, everything was exceptional. I was lucky enough to get a private onsen and with the view of Mt Fuji it was so romantic and surreal. The rooms are larger then japanese standards. The dinner is also top quality and the... More

It was dusk when we checked in at the ryokan. We could only see Mount Fuji as the silhouette from our room. Woke up early and found that Mt.Fuji was towering just before our eyes. Onsen on the balcony was great, just a little traffic noise from down below. Breakfasts and dinners were of great quality, presented with beautiful Japanese... More

It was almost impeccable, and defly worth long hours of transitioning from narita airport to kawaguchi ko (almost 7 hours!). Loved everything there, including the view (Fuji Mt. / lake view available from room), the room with very traditional Jap style, the food (dinner & breakie), the service, the onsen (again with Fuji Mt. view) and the neighbouring area. Can't... More

We stayed at Kozantei Ubuya on 10/11/14 and it was fantastic! We booked a Western room with a private bath + breakfast and dinner included. It was expensive but it was really worth every single cent there! We just loved how we had a private bath on our balcony and enjoyed the view! The beds were really comfy. The shower... More

Don't get sticker shocked. What you'll get by staying here is traditional 5-star Japanese service, which will destroy any other western experience you've had. I stayed here with my Japanese wife and my parents - who had never been to Japan before. We stayed in a half-Japanese half Western style bedroom with a private hot spring on our balcony and... More

Location, view, decoration and service are all superb. There is very nice view of Fujisan and Kawaguchiko lake. The foods which were very delicious were includes, both breakfast and dinner. We went for our honeymoon. They gave us a bottle of wine and blessing card for this spacial occasion. Best hotel ever.

This was our third stay in Ubuya over the past 15 years! They had renovated the entrance and dining areas 5 years ago and it looks great. Service still superb. The onsen (public baths) still well maintained, and regularly cleaned. We were very lucky again and were able to see Mount Fuji on the two days we were there. Having... More

So wrong time of the year to try tackle Mt. Fuji, however we wanted to get close. Hence we headed to the Fuji Five Lakes area and my partner wanted to stay in a ryokan. The Kozantei Ubuya was near fully booked when we wanted to stay so got lumped with a traditional Japanese style suite with outdoor hot tub.... More

Lake Kawaguchiko is simply lovely. If you are planning on a trip to Tokyo, it is worth detouring to Lake Kawaguchko. From Tokyo Station it takes about 2.5 hours by train to arrive at Kawaguchiko Station. This lovely onsen hotel is about 8 mins bus ride there. Even if you arrive earlier than formal check in time, you should go... More
