We booked the Onsenji room which comes with a private onsen, dinner and breakfast. It was one of the cheapest private onsen room available, and definitely value for money. The room, the food, were top notch. Dinner was a multi-course feast which included a variety of seafood, sashimi, meat, and local vegetables. Even the ending carbohydrate course - peanut rice,... Us two stayed in this onsenji for one day/night in Oct 2013. I booked the Japanese style room with private spa directly from their website five months ahead. I got the 25% discount when paid full at booking, which included Japanese style breakfast and dinner. Beware that there are several room styles to choose from, including western or Japanese, with... A genuine japanese experience, with japanese rooms with traditional furniture and beds. beautiful house and beautiful garden. friendly staff and excellent service. We didn't want to leave! The town was a bit sleepy but beautiful around the lake.

Very friendly staff. We had the suite with the private onsen and a swinging chaise chair. The onsen was wonderfully hot. The room was well heated, though the bathroom was perpetually cold. Our first night kaiseki was mediocre at best, but the second night was much improved. The western breakfast was excellent with a chicken/tofu salad that was great. We... More

The one and only flaw (as far as I am concerned) is the lack of a view of Mt Fuji from the rooms, though anyone searching for reviews of the inn would have known this. Even though there is a bus that will take you to a stop near the inn, all you need to do is to approach the... More

very nice ryokan, staff helpful and corteous.. the private suite is a luxury worth every penny, including the open-air onsen in the backyard.. excellent for a relaxing holiday and for hiking around.. huge breakfast served in the room, but for dinner there are lots of options at a few minutes walk distance.. free pick up twice a day

I went to this ryokan after going to the Mikawaya Ryokan in Hakone - had a gone BEFORE, it would be a different story. This place is not a real ryokan, it is commercialised and the food pales in comparison to genuine ryokans. It is in a very touristy location and so inevitably the place itself is touristy. This is... The hotel is really good. Rooms are great traditional japanese style with the plus of having your private onsen in the garden which is really cool. The staff is on the standard japanese service (that is very good) but they don´t speak much english so you need patience and creativity to get yourself understood. The breakfast in room was such... The service made all the difference! We stayed 3 nights here and had a wonderful experience. This is a traditional Ryokan where you have your private room and private onsen tub in your backyard. The setting is very calming and private, perfect for some quiet time and relaxation. The Housekeepers are very polite and very helpful, although most of them... More

It's a little out of the way and in an isolated town with very few options for activities or dining. The room and onsen are absolutely beautiful and were my favorite in all the places that we stayed. Definitely get breakfast and even dinner.
