I am lucky enough to have visited Prato di Sotto several times since I first came in the late 90's and I can honestly say that it only gets lovelier. This was my first winter trip and I hope it won't be my last. The stunning valley it sits in was even more peaceful (and particularly gorgeous in the unseasonal... More

I had been to Tuscany before but never Umbria and I'm a convert. Far less developed and yet full of places to eat good food ie Monterone just north of Umbertide and places to visit- Gubbio and SanSepulcro to name but 2 of the many . Penny Radford the owner has invested a lot of time and energy into making... More

Prato di Sotto is a very special experience thanks to Penny and the beautiful decorated homes. It is a lovely and welcoming place and due to its size, it's a very personal and intimate experience. You will never forget this stay. Kind regards Kristina

This was my first trip to Umbria. This magical property is situated in some stunning countryside. The rooms were very well appointed, clean and welcoming. I know nothing of the area but that didn't matter. The owner, Penny Radford, provided a wealth of knowledge - both the expected tourist guides but a great deal of personal knowledge that really helped... More

We spent our vacation this october in the Molino and the cottage La Capanna. We had a great time, Penny was the perfect host as always. That's why we came back here for the third time!!! It's a very quiet surrounding, it has a pool, which was frequently used by our children. The buildings are very comfortable and very tasteful... More

We have been four times to this heavenly escape and its time to share the secret…. Set high above the valleys with spectacular views, the warm welcome from hostess Penny Radford is always the start of a blissful feeling of being cocooned away from the frenetic demands of everyday life. These lovely old buildings have been refurbished with exquisite taste... More

This is a very special place and Penny is a very special person. once we wound our way up the 'white' road and away from the noise of traffic, Penny was there to welcome us to a little piece of heaven. La Capanna is a beautifully restored cottage, decorated in simple yet sophisticated style, a lovely home from home. Prato... More

Prato di Sotto is not your average location - it's a truly memorable place to stimulate the senses and yet offer you absolute tranquility to jettison the clutter of a busy life. When you turn off the main country road, it takes a further 12 minutes to drive up the beautiful twisty chalk lane, before you reach Prato di Sotto.... More

What a fabulous week we had at Prato di Sotto! Penny was the perfect hostess - we became firm friends in the first 20 minutes of chatting to her. The views are wonderful. The accommodation is unique - beautifully furnished with Penny's special flair. And the peace and quiet was the best tonic we could have had as a counter... More

Prato di Sotto is in the "Best Kept Secret" category so I'm ambivalent about praising it to the heavens as it will no doubt encourage more people to sample its joys and therefore leave less time for us! We've been enjoying Penny's hospitality for over 10 years and every trip delivers a wonderful combination of peace, relaxation, comfort as well... More
