Varied lunch menu, excellent fresh chips, and sea food caught hours before you eat it. Lots of locals dining as well as visitors to the area, and a dent view out the front window. Probably the best food I tried in Shetland, though it was the close-season.

Had the great good fortune to land here on my first visit to Shetland. Room was very good if a little cramped. Excellent food especially the breakfasts and good cask beers in the bar. Seems to be the village watering hole and had to smile when the landlady disciplined her locals for bad language! Easy parking and 15 minute drive... More

We ate here for dinner as non-residents - it is necessary to book, even off-season, which says it all. The food was excellent, especially the fish, the wine list very good, and the service thoughtful. Only our desserts were a little slow; understandably so as the dining room and bar were both completely full by then. Fine dinner and good... More

Stopped here in May 2015 on our cycling holiday around the Orkneys and Shetlands. The hotel is relatively tall and narrow so if you don't like stairs, watch out! Our bikes had to be stored outside under cover in the smoking area. Not great but they were safe enough. Although my 2nd floor single room was small, it was very... More

We stayed here for two nights whilst on holiday in Shetland last year. We got one of the newly refurbished rooms overlooking the harbour which was clean, spacious and comfortable. The management and housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful. As an example, my wife stayed in with our baby daughter on our first evening there and on finding the bar... More

I absolutely love this hotel. When asking myself what I want from a hotel: good wifi, comfortable bed and good shower. Full score. Add super friendly owners and most beatiful room. Love it! The room is tartan heaven and everything has a local profile. Did I mention that Shetland is so pretty - even in January. And that Scots are... More

I was in Shetland on business and stayed at The Scalloway for three nights. The food was exceptionally good though the menu was a bit limited, and my room was very comfortable. On our last night we tried fish and chips in the bar which was very good. I'll be going back.

My wife and I stayed for a night on a relaxing weekend. The room and indeed the hotel was delightfully furnished with local fabrics and artworks. We have eaten here before and as usual the food was superb, showcasing the best of Shetland and Scottish produce. The crab salad starter was sublime and my steak was perfectly cooked and melt... Came to stay here while on work. If shetland is for you this is a great little spot. The rooms are really good. The food is very very good and the service is quite attentive and not too formal. Don't get me wrong this is three star, but is very much top three star if not four.

Run by a no-nonsense couple, the hotel appeared to be at the end of what seemed to be a long and hard revamp. With excellent results I must add. The rooms were very modern and the bathroom was very fancy, while still keeping a few features such as a tweed armchair. We were glad we booked an evening meal as... More
