It was touching 50 degrees in Delhi this June - even a trip to the hills didn't sound too promising. But we landed up at Mary Budden to have the most gorgeous stay ever. Above the clouds, and a beautiful location with delicious food, it was like being lifted into a world far, far away from the Delhi heat. Sugandha... More

This March I decided to head to the mountains and on recommendation came to Mary Budden at Binsar. 4 days of absolute luxury, cozy interiors, lovely weather was the result. Mary Budden Estate speaks of Serena and Samara Chopra's hard work and keen attention to giving guests an eco friendly and luxurious stay even as high as 8000 ft in... More

A long treacherous drive from Delhi was soon washed once we reached the estate, beautiful location, beautiful cottage, awesome team to pamper you to the core with ever smiling faces. We booked the Rhododenderon cottage for 4 nights, and the experience was just brilliant. Starting from booking with Serena to our stay with Govind ji and team, it was just... More

If you desire super luxury high up in the Kumaon Himalayas, look no further!! Mary Budden Estate (MBE) is Serena Chopra’s labour of love. From the two beautiful buildings (one original colonial and the other new) to the tasteful furniture & fixtures, the sculptures, the upholstery, the crockery & cutlery - everything is par excellence. One never realizes that the... More

The arduousness of a long and challenging drive from Delhi melted away on entering the portals of this special paradise. It was the last week for the rhododendron forest that soars above and enwraps the property to be in flower, so carpets of blood red petals on the magical walking trails. A full moon was accompanied by bird call that... More

Remoteness is a rarity in much of India and the Mary Budden Estate is maybe the most remote hotel I have ever been to... Having just spent the incredible days there I cannot recommend it more highly - I only wish we had stayed longer. The whole place is beautifully restored with a great eye for design and absolute attention... More

A charming property which is very elegantly decorated and extremely well maintained. Although the drive is long from Delhi it is well worth the effort as the ambiance and beauty of Mary Budden is breathtaking. All around the property one will find cosy corners provided for in the landscape with breathtaking views. The staff are very friendly and Mrs. Chopra... More

Mary Budden Estate makes the long journey getting there well worth the while. Not only is it precious for its location, (ensconced as it is in the Binsar wildlife sanctuary), and its vintage, (the estate's history dates back to the 1800s), it is probably one of the few colonial properties that offers visitors a fine balance of authentic restoration alongside... We spent a week at Mary Budden Estate at Binsar - located on top of a hill in verdant forests of Binsar Sanctuary, about an hour from Almora at about 8000 ft. It is one of the most amazing holidays we had - and all thanks to Ms. Serena Chopra who has passionately created this luxurious heaven in the middle... More
