First time I stayed downstairs , value for money. Last two years I stayed one month and six weeks . First floor , enjoy a lot the outside area as there is always a nice sea breeze. Made great friends with Lead the dog . Some guest maybe do not like her barking during the night but she keeps tugs... More

Villa Manikandan offers the same level of comfort (i.d. basic) as other places around Othavadai street, and within the same price range (from 400Rs). What made me like that place and decide to stay there is something in the air, that makes it not just another budget guest house. Pascale (the french owner) is always up for a chat, Vela... More

This guesthouse could have been very comfortable and perfect for low-middle budget. However, the 24 hours spent there happened to be absolutely disappointing. The room was stifling, with old mattresses and dirty pillows. And "icing on the cake": some dog's sh... in front of our room when we woke up the next morning... not removed before 10 am! And when... We arrived at noon, when sun was frying us up. We checked in Room 101(R.400 per day), the last one on the ground floor. The placed is managed by a French Lady and the place makes you feel at home. The room looked pretty decent but not extraordinary. The Bucket and Mug provided are horrible but the bathroom was ok.... More

Villa Maikandan was perfect for our stay. Our room and bathroom were very clean, simple, cool and light. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Pascale the owner is very nice and knowledgeable, she helped us to find nice places in the town.

My husband and me stayed in the villa for a few months and it felt like a second home. Good location, close to the beach, nice staff and you get a family on top of it even if it is only for a few days. If you search for great luxury and no powercuts you should go somewhere else, the... More

For 1,000 Rs this joint is very reasonable - pros: Close to beach, Quiet, AC and fan Outdoor private seating area, Close to all restaurants and attractions Cons: Not very clean, no hot water, power outages, mosquito ridden General comments about the town: The day we arrived in Mahabalipuram the police were enforcing prohibition in the town, which meant we... Simple and nice, just what we were looking for. It has an artistic ambience and a great locatation close to the beach and to the main road. But the best is the great price and an average cleanness (for India standards it is nice and clean). We,ll stay there again if we come back some day to Mamallapuram.

We stayed in one of the double rooms on the first floor (upstairs). The room was basic, and it's true that the mattresses aren't very comfortable. I think for one or two nights it is ok, but more than that could get tiresome (pun intended). We had to opt for the AC because it was extremely hot, the room seemed... More

Hello Just you forget to speak about the basic too price of the AC room, guest house one, not hotel one. In Hotel Sea Breeze just near, you can get one AC double room for minimum 2400 INR / night. We charge only 1400 INR / night so, that guest house rate doesn't allow us to run generator (loudly, costly,... More

Location is great. Everything is very close. Besides this all the other things are not so good. The room was decent size, and they had a good mosquito net which we needed very badly. The matrass was unbelievable thin. Bad nights of sleep due to this. The shower gave three drops of water. So you needed the bucket. Worst of... More
