Stayed here when visiting Chatsworth Horse Trials & the House - lovely place to stay. Well appointed nice clean room with tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc and a huge comfy bed. Very friendly down to earth owner (she loves her horror films) who gave us coffee and biscuits on arrival FOC! Very tasty breakfast and plenty of it. Nice atmosphere... More

We stayed here for my husbands birthday. It was lovely, very clean, delicious breakfast, warm, very friendly owner. A short walk into Bonsall village, and only a few miles into Matlock. I'd recommend it. Wish we could have stayed longer to try more of the walks surrounding it!

Lovely warm place to stay, our weekend was rather cool and wet! Our hosts cooked a wonderful breakfast with a huge choice, it kept us going all day and try the rhubarb and ginger jam it's very tasty. The bed in our room was huge as was the TV. In the lounge there were lots of books and DVDs you... More

Cosy B&B with friendly and welcoming host Julie. We had a double room. The bed was comfy and we were able to sleep with the window open to keep the room cool at night. There is large comfortable guest lounge with a warm welcoming solid fuel stove and a good range of books, board games and DVDs available to borrow.... More

Stayed here for 3 nights. Our hosts, John and Julie, were very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable, and breakfasts were excellent. Our room faced a fairly busy road, so was sometimes noisy with the window open, but with window closed it was fine, so not a major problem. Would recommend this B & B.

Pig of Lead was an excellent find, well situated for access to Matlock and Cromford and a lovely (but hilly!) walk to Bonsall village. Julie is an excellent host, showed us round and made us feel really welcome with a hot drink and biscuits in the lounge. The breakfasts are wonderful and nothing felt too much trouble - really liked... More

After an initial disappoinment with the location our fears were quickly dispelled when Julie greeted us at the door. Julie and her husband John were so welcoming. They showed us round the guest lounge where we could borrow DVDS and books. There was a fridge and microwave for the use of the guests in the very nice dining room. Our... More

Fantastic B&B, welcomed from the minute we arrived till the minute we left. One of the best breakfasts we have experienced for a B&B and it sets you up for the day, in fact we didn't need to eat until late afternoon. Room was large and had everything you need, not that we spent much time in it. Julie was... More

Met on arrival with tea and biscuits. Premises provides all the comforts of home, including team making facilities in the room. Huge bed and large flat screen TV. Julie very friendly and chatty. Although an old building with interesting history, it does feel warm and homely.

This is an excellent base for exploring an unspoilt part of the UK. Julie is first class as the ever-so-helpful yet unobtrusive host, and provides good local knowledge, as well as an excellent breakfast that sets you up very well for the day. Nothing seems to be too much trouble. We had the room with the super king size bed... More
