We stayed at Benzilan Lodge for one night. It was our second stop in our 7-day circuit with Songtsam Lodges. Nestled in a narrow canyon off the main town of Benzilan proper, it is a haven of peace and tranquility. The lodge is in the middle of a tiny Tibetan hamlet with a dirt road that leads you up to... Benzilan Songtsam lodge is only a two hour drive from the Shangri-La lodge. It is located in a small village up a canyon off the main road. The lodge is in the center of the village and is decorated in the traditional Tibetan style. It is a near-perfect haven from the rest of the world. A note about “Tibet”: Many... More

We were due to stay here one night but in the end we decided to go on to Shagri La since we had an early flight the next morning. We did however see the rooms, have lunch and then went to see the nearby villages. The location is excellent, and there are a couple of mountain villages about 30 mins... More

Our family stopped there between Shangri-La and Meili and we could not have dreamed a better place to relax. We were lucky to have the place by ourselves and the weather was beautiful, especially compared to the cold we experienced the days before and after Benzilan. Sipping white wine on the verandah under the arbour, looking at the blossoms and... More

We stopped off at Benzilan along a tour of moat the Songtsam lodges (shangrila-> tacheng->benzilan->meili->shangrila). while benzilqn doesnt quite match tacheng/meili in beauty or shangrila im cache it does have a certain quaint charm that makes it worth an day and night. It is a small lodge in a very small little village. And the staff are especially great. A... More

Stayed here for one night as part of a Songtsam Circuit tour. Beautifully decorated, comfortable room. Delicious food with many choices; our meals were included with our overall tour. The lodge is set near a small village and we were able to take a couple of interesting walks in the local area. We loved our 7 night Songtsam Circuit trip:... More

This was our least favourite Songtsam. It has really been spoiled by new houses being built right next door. The hotel now offers little in the way of views compared to the other strategically positioned lodges. The library sitting area is rather tired and dusty. The food was so so. We were able to choose our vegetables from the hotel's... More

Drive from Songtsam Meili to Songtsam Benzilan takes about two & a half hours. We drove through Baimang Snow Mountain & were admiring the scenery when it started snowing again & the sky was gloomy. One car in front of us stalled & could not move despite several pushing it. We waited about 1 hour before we could continue our... More

We stayed at Benzilan lodge on our way back to Shangrila, having spent the 2 previous nights at the fantastic Meili lodge (see separate review). To be fair, Meili lodge was SO outstanding that it's hard to rate objectively Benzilan after that, but let's try. First: Benzilan is a great stop for transit between the 2 lodges, Meili and Shangrila.... More

we did the songtsam circuit back in apr2013: shangrila - benzilan - meili - shangrila this lodge shares most of the same characteristic as other songtsam lodges.. the only reason why this got a 4-star and not a full one is because it is just marginally below the other 2 lodges which have spectacular feel. refer to the other 2...
