I have visited this pub on many an occasion due to it being local. It is well decorated but unfortunately the food is quite average. It's not a terrible place to eat but most of the food - that myself, friends and family have ever ordered - doesn't appear to be cooked from scratch. Most of the staff seem friendly,... More

Thank you for your review of the Lambton Arms, it is disappointing that the table was not cleared promptly once you had finished your meal. In respect to your claim that the food doesn't appear to be cooked from scratch, I can confirm that most of our food is cooked fresh to order, our meat is supplied fresh by a... More

Thank you for your review - I'm glad that you enjoy your visits to the Lambton Arms - I would like to say that the pub was extensively refurbished 3 years ago and is in my opinion still the best looking and most comfortable pub in Chester le Street. Also the coffee that we serve is not filtered but is... More

Used the hotel as a base to visit Durham. Good location next to the Angel 21 bus service with buses evey 15 minutes. Hotel is mainly a large bar/ restaurant/function venue with a few guest rooms. Noisy until 11:30 when the live music stops down stairs. Rooms are large, clean and a little dated but at £55 for a double... More

Stayed here as the travel lodge nearby was full. Cannot fault the cleanliness of the room and the bathroom sparkled! Full English breakfast was superb. Excellent value for money would recommend staying here and give the travel lodge a miss!

This bar has recently started a Northern Soul night one saturday a month and I have called in for the last couple. The night is run by Chester le St Soul club. The Lambton has a small dance floor and although I like Northern soul I only knew one song during the two hours I was there. I understand there... More

We just had to have a drink here after 30 years away...We were always in here for a drink and also had our Christmas Lunch here a few times. It looks a little tired now and the furniture outside is decaying badly.. Still, it brought back happy memories of evenings like Stag Nights , Coming of age and birthdays.. Inside... More

Yes, good in parts. The food is excellent and the beer prices, well just great. It has a very central location which is both good and bad. Good because everything you could want is on your doorstep, bad because it can be very noisy both late at night with passing revellers and early morning with air brakes on buses etc... More

Lovely staff, good breakfast, a decent menu for evening meals if required. Lots of things on hand as it's in the high street. Durham a bus ride away. Free parking behind the pub. We stay there quite regularly when we visit family.

stayed for a few days while visiting Beamish museum and Newcastle a little dated in the decoration but must admit our room (10) was great apart from the temperamental lock on the door which required you to get the key just right to access the room clean and tidy, beds made everyday breakfast very good
