This is an old suburban pub, the rooms are perfectly acceptable for the price so I didn't expect too much. Then when I checked in they gave me fresh milk for my morning coffee which impressed me so much, I can't stand UHT. These operators have done the best with what they have got but I could not give 5... More

This is a review for the Steakhouse not the hotel, unfortunately they don't have a separate page. Since it's $8 off per steak every Wednesday night, it's great value. Food here are nicer than many places in town, at least you get real cutlery are made of real steel not plastic and quantity is belly filling!!!!!

Room was pretty average, a little old, but clean and comfortable ide recommend it for a night or a few days stay and I'm usually pretty fussy. But the real Star of the show was the food at the hotel restaurant, I had a Rib Eye Fillet Steak with vegetables, chips, garlic bread & a coke for $35.00 it was... More

Had some very nice steak last night but one person at our table decided to order the black board special, Thai chicken curry, sounded nice and tasty. Funny thing was though when we recieved it at our table it was beef vindaloo apparently the chef had changed the blackboard special for the night in the kitchen but not out where... More

During the recent AFL game we decided to stay here and my mate and myself thought that we would avail ourselves at the sports bar to make use of the big screen rather then go to the game. I did this a few years ago and had a great time. However, this time around the schooners were between $1 and... More

We live in Cairns and have visited the restaurant 3 times in the last two weeks, attracted by the $1 oysters. There are daily specials and there is a variety of steaks to suit all tastes. It is a pleasant experience

Our group of 8 people ( 4 kids) all really loved our meals. A bit pricey but well worth the cost for a quality meal. Fast service, friendly staff and lots of parking. Heard about this restaurant from a friend who recently visited Cairns and we are glad we went their as it was the nicest meal we had on... More

Our time in Cairns we ate at this Hotel 3 times it was absolutely beautiful and service was fantastic. They have great specials which are different every night. Unfortunately on one of the nights my eldest daughter became sick from the daily activity we had taken part in which didn't agree with her. Terri and Phoebe were fantastic and very... More

The accomodation is clean but very basic, breakfast is extra and not worth what you pay for. Restaurant food is a little overpriced and reasonable serving depending on order. Childrens games room is good for kids to keep them amused.

So often you make a decision to stay somewhere based on someone else's advice. Lesson learnt! I spent a night at the Balaclava Motel and think it will be the last. The motel service was OK I guess as I really had little to do with them; the room however left a lot to be desired. Old, tired and noisy.... More
