We spent two days at this nice B&B at the end of October 2011. It made a great stop on our trip to Spain, and we really hope to be back for more! The B&B is clean and comfortable, Linda and Robert (and Ygor) are great hosts and there is plenty to do nearby. The village is beautiful, but a... More

How nice to write a review and thank you very much. We are happy you had a great stay with us and remember how much you enjoyed the village and the fort. As you say it is great to make this stop into an etappe on your way to Spain. Linda has practiced the Salsa dance so if you're around... More

We stayed three nights here and wish we had planned a longer stay. This B&B is immaculately clean and outstandingly comfortable. Robert and Linda are superb hosts, and immediately create a feeling that you are visiting with old friends. They are enormously helpful in planning activities in the area, which are far more plentiful than guidebooks suggest. The grounds and... More

Thank you for your review. We try to be as informative as possible to our guests so they are able to explore the region to the max. We know that travel guides are not indicating all possibilities of this region. Therefor we suggest the other possibilities close to the house or just a little bit further away. I think we... More

We spend a long weekend at l'Ombre du Fort with Linda, Rob, their kids and the rest of their 'live stock'. Our goal was to experience the wines of the area. Rob arranged some visits to wineyards, selected a lot of wines and was very knowledgeable on the topic in general. The hotel is situated nicely between the hills, next... More

What a wonderful time, nice wines, good company, happy faces, laughs, relaxation, nice food and more wine :-). It was fun showing you around a few wineries, the beautiful region and good places to eat. Because of common interest there was always something to talk about or discuss. We enjoyed your presentations of the local wines while tasting and exploring... More

We have just returned home from a 10 day holiday at A l'Ombre du Fort. Robert and Linda were brilliant hosts and we cannot thank them enough. Our bedroom was clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were excellent. We particularly enjoyed the chat and drinks with Robert and Linda and the other guests in the garden, during the early evening.... More

Trains trains trains..... and a lot of walking. We are glad you visited our B&B and we were able to make your holiday a fantastic one. It felt almost like family that was visiting us. I am going t try to find the old railway in Spain (we discussed) so you can make a roundtrip with the Yellow Train from... More

This B&B compares very favourably with hotels that charge twice as much and provide half of the service. It is, in all respects, excellent. The attitude of the charming Dutch couple who own and run this place is key to its success. They are warm, welcoming and very helpful. The rooms are large, clean, efficient and well equiped. The bonus... More

Thank you for your comment. We have precious memories about your stay with us. From the first moment we met it felt like meeting "old" friends. We had nice conversations about the region and your visits to the various places of interest. We know Ygor always tries to do his best to be the most loved dog in the world.... More

Linda and Robert with 2 boys and 3 cats, plus dog (Igor) and horse (Taris), are a lovely family with a wonderful house on the riverbank. They serve up very generous family style hospitality, and all family and guests eat together at a large table. They gave us beer and wine on our arrival with no charge. We had room... More

You are right that it takes a little longer in room #1 for the warm water to arrive. It has to come a long way and I have not found a solution yet to shorten the time. In the bathrooms are soap dispensers present that contain soap and shampoo in one. We do not want to have television or radio... More

From the moment Igor the very friendly Welsh Springer Spaniel met us when we opened the car door, we knew this was going to be a great place to stay. The hosts, Linda and Robert, are very welcoming and accommodating and their house is in a beautiful location amongst spectacular scenery. Great, clean room, beautiful house and grounds, 2 minutes... Haha yes Ygor wins most of the time in being the first to welcome new guests. He is so pleased meeting new people as well as we do. Besides the Yellow train, the village and Fort Liberia there are also caves at walking distance and a little chapel called Notre Dame de Vie. We are glad you enjoyed your stay... More

Wow! From the moment we walked through the gate there was a very homely atmosphere felt running through the place. Linda and Robert were simply terrific hosts. Their family, including dog and horse, added to the charm and positive experience. Their neighbours added to the friendliness of the location. Visit again? definitely. More

Stayed here for two nights in August - very hot!. Lovely welcome from Linda and Robert and Igor the Spaniel with a cold glass of rose on the terrace. Room was very comfortable with lovely views and a balcony. Swimming pool on site was wonderful to cool off in after a day sight seeing in and around Villfranche de Conflent... More
