(Restaurant only - did not stay) Difficult to put my finger on why I am reluctant to give this restaurant a higher score, but I think it’s a combination of rather slow service and, for what you get, it’s a bit pricey. That said, good food and enjoyable. Would go again if in the area.

I stayed here on business and I must say how impressed I was. The room, though small, was comfortable. The staff were excellent and very friendly and the food was awesome. To elaborate on the food, the menu choice was very good. Be aware though that the Scallops is not what it seems, being a terrine rather than just lovely... More

Character pub in pleasant location, in walking distance of Great Missenden village. We stayed one night on a bed & breakfast basis, and ate in for dinner as well. Enjoyed high quality food and there was a good selection of beers in the bar. Room was basic but clean and comfortable, and would certainly go back.

4 of us visited to try the Full English Breakfast - despite it not being very busy the wait was ridiculously long circa 45 minutes Due to the incredibly long wait we ordered extra pots of tea - 8 teas cost £17.60 ouch! Breakfast £10.00 a head [usually includes tea] food was good and hot so thats a positive We... More

We had what was almost a perfect stay at the Nags Head. The staff were all so lovely, I really wanted to give it 5*s but it's just not quite there. The food was fantastic (we had lunch and breakfast) and service could not be faulted. I would happily go back. The setting is great, building was beautiful and room... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Nags Head for my sister's wedding, the reception for which was also held at the Nags Head. We had room 1 which is a really nice room with a very spacious bathroom. Only drawback is the road and the traffic more or less all night and can be a bit disturbing for some on... More

The room was very clean and bed was comfortable. I had a separate, large bathroom with a bath and toiletries that were all of a high standard. As this hotel was built in the 16th century the doors, beams and ceilings are slightly low but this wasn't anything of a problem for me just worth noting as people 6ft and... More

Passing by and decided to stop for lunch, pub is set in a lovely location and parking is good, initially the service was quick, we received our drinks and the menu but the young lady serving was also wrapping a parcel at the bar, we waited, and waited, eventually getting her attention we placed our order and asked for more... We dined on a travelzoo voucher, the service was excellent, very curteous and efficent staff, the food was very good with a fair choice and cooked extremely well. Overall we couldn't criticise the overall experience

Great food and service, a place where a lot of care has been put into everything, without doubt with its brother in Flaunden. (The Bricklayers) there are very few better Gastro pubs to be found. There are others of course with great menus but the chefs in both these places have found a solution to excellent cooking. Perfect for couples... More
