We loved our stay at the Chateau and Helene and Jacques couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. It felt like we were visiting relatives. They also made suggestions for what to see nearby and generously loaned us maps and books. The kitchen that the guests can use for dinner was built in the 12th century and exuded an interesting... This was our second visit to the Chateau de Paquier and we had a wonderful stay. The location provides a beautiful respite from the pressures of motorway driving and we enjoyed the peace and chance to relax. Bedrooms are beautifully appointed - and we had a wonderful free-standing bath - and the food at the little restaurant adjacent is delicious.... More

We loved our stay and wish it had been longer. Everything was excellent. Helene and Jacques were great hosts providing comfortable room, fantastic breakfast and great conversation. We also enjoyed two great evening meals here. We would love to come back.

The castle is a wonderful quirky place with a great welcome from the proprietors and with elegantly furnished bedrooms. We were offered a choice and took the high ceilinged room shown in the pictures below (room 1). The huge windows have a marvellous view across the valley and we rewarded with a magnificent rainbow followed by swirling clouds. The restaurant... More

What a beautiful place! We stayed only one night with Hélène et Jacques, getting a good relaxing rest before a motorbike-mounted assault on Route Napoleon en route to the Monaco f1 Grand Prix We arrived late and although the restaurant was closed Jacques prepared a wonderful meal of cold meat, cheese, bread and salad, accompanied by a carafe of rather... Three times I stayed at the chateau de Paquier, each time for just one night - twice with my friend on our way down to the south of France and once alone on a trip for nothing else than to visit the chateau. On this trip I was the only guest, while the night before the chateau had no vacancies.... More

Typical situation of a Château managed by individuals with no real sense of welcoming and hospitality. They even refused to provide a room for friends of ours because they arrived too late in the evening. Although the place is nice, just the fact that the owners/managers are inflexible and insensitive to client's needs crosses this off our list...

I am really sorry if your friends have found our answer " not welcoming". If somebody ask me( by e-mail or phone) to book a room , and explain me that they will arrive late in the night, I use to say that we don't accept the booking, not to disturb and awake the other guests who are sleeping.....I think... Returning after a few years, we had an excellent welcome on 2 visits this year and the same high standards we remembered. The rooms can be a bit quirky and vary in size and outlook, but the beds are all comfortable and the furnishings interesting. Jacques and Helene's daughter now runs a little restaurant in a restored building across the... More
