Certainly not amazing. But about as good as it gets around this area. Staff friendly enough, if a little disinterested. Everything with the room was good, for this area. It's not a super fancy hotel but it does the job and you can get a reasonable sleep. Prices good for what you get

Of the three lodgings I stayed at while touring the northern most province of Vietnam the Royal hotel was perhaps the best...but not by far. It clearly is a relatively modern multistory structure and very clean. But as has been the case in the other places I've stayed in this region of Vietnam the bed was extremely firm, bed sheets... I booked this online via a vietnamese travel agency as it was supposed to be the best hotel in town. I was offered a roo for $20 a night online but when I got there, they shuffled me to a VIP room and wrote $25 on a piece of paper and argued with me. They did themselves no favours as... More
