The only reason for staying here is its location and breathtaking view of Mt Bromo. Booked via phone, which we found here: http://globaladventureindonesia.com/lava-view-lodge Had trouble getting thru the line and they didnt even ask for credit card details. We reached there at 9pm, wondering if they actually booked 2 rooms for us. Thank goodness they did. Almost SG$100 per room.... More

Location: I chose this lodge only because of its location at the rim of the crater where you can have the best view of the sandsea, Mt. Bromo and Mt. Batok. Hotel Staff: The Receptionists and the hotel's staff were quite friendly. Room: The standard superior room was a very basic room with king size bed, blanket, coffee/tea maker, TV,... More

This lodge has a perfect location for visiting bromo and surrounding area. A morning jeep safari to watch the sunrise over bromo is highly recommended. The rooms however are very basic and simple, with just enough facilities to spend the night. I did give 3 stars, because of the location, and the restaurant which was nice (for dinner and breakfast).... More

We arrived late at night after a 10 hour drive, weary and drained. The manager was waiting for us with keys and a welcome and information on Mount Bromo which you really want to hit at dawn to get the best out of it. A very friendly chap whose name I have forgotten (shame on me). This hotel is not... More

Our guide from Great Tours http://www.greattoursjogja.com booked us in here as part of our trip to Mount Bromo. It's expensive and the rooms are cold and basic. We didn't pluck up the courage to use the shower as the electrics looked dodgy and it was so cold. My partner didn't sleep much because the porch light was on all night... More

The room itself was very cold, damp feeling, musty smelling, with no heating and needed more blankets. The bathroom was very basic with cracked tiles and a dodgy looking water heater. But in fairness both were clean which is impressive given the very fine volcanic ash that gets everywhere. The restaurant choices were limited but the food was actually better... More

I'm writing about the Cafe Lava Hostel. We ended up here, after a long trip from Yogya to Mt.Bromo. We've booked a package tour/hotel/climb and were supposed to stay at the Sion Hotel. That hotel was terrible: dirty, ugly and just simply terrible. So the driver took us to Cafe Lava Hostel, which was ok (average for Indonesia), but clean... More

Basically, the location of this lodge is the reason to stay here. It is close to Mount Bromo and that is the key factor. The room that we (two people) stayed in for the one night that we were there, was extremely cold. Ideally there should be a heater in those rooms and/or in relevant times of the year. There... More

Having read all these reviews it seems there are probably some rooms that are better than others. Ours was adequate, a bit dowdy and unappealing but clean enough and everything worked. The restaurant food at dinner was quite nice and breakfast was as described in other reviews - it did not make us sick, that's for sure. WIFI (free) was... More

Stunning location .. Full view on the active vulcan Bromo. The lodges are basically camping cabbins off not too high standard. Since most guest will waje uo at 03:30 to climb the bromo, you won't get alet of sleep, bit what the heck. Especially not because the locals will transport you up the mountain with 25 year old landcruisers. It's... More
