With limited places to stay in the Bromo area, we opted for Lava View even though it was on the more expensive end of the scale. We are so happy with our choice! We even checked a few hostels out on our way in just in case they had availability - and they were charging more than Lava View. It... More

I was quite amazed once I got there because of the view of the sunset going down behind the volcanos (seriously amazing). But as I got my keys and reached my room, I was not as pleased: no heater, dirty bathroom, a lot of dust due to volcanos... And I waited an hour to get my dinner at the restaurant.

Probably the best hotel in Cemoro Lawang but clearly surfing on the high accommodation prices around Bromo. Nowhere even close to any nice place in Java in the same price range. The view is very good from the restaurant which offers decent quality food. Our dark and unheated room (106 I think) close to the restaurant faced the parking and... More

The lodge is very closed to the volcanic area and the highest one but it is really old and renovation is needed. Furniture is old and toilet is extremely poor ( no proper shower and lavatories are located often in the same bedrooms). There is a restaurant but food is awful and smoking is permitted inside. Tourists there stay usually... More

I was here with groups of journalist from Jakarta, Bandung, and East Java for a business trip. The lodge was clean and overall acceptable. The food was surprisingly above average and the view of the Lodge was spectacular. The only challenge was the weather. What you see on the thermostat is what you will feel in your room as there... I stayed in room 109 at Lava View Lodge in August 2015. This is a fairly basic hotel however the location is great - right at the very edge of the caldera and 'Sand Sea'. A 15 minute downhill walk will take you to the floor of the Sand Sea where another 30-45 minute walk is required to reach the... More

You have to look at the Lava View Lodge in its setting. This is more a mountain lodge than anything else, 2.2 km above sea-level in a moon-like landscape. There is no Four Seasons here. The rooms are basic, clean and with relatively limited comfort, but quite sufficient. The peculiar atmosphere comes free of charge (think Twin Peaks). The restaurant... More

My wife & I have checked out locations for photo tours. Lava View is not posh, rather rustic & spartan, but with it's location right on the rim of the larger Bromo area crater and the Sea of Sand, a photographer couldn't hope for much better. Even if you don't do the jeep or horseback ride (recommended) you'll see an... More

Locations is perfect with the crater minutes away. Roons are very basic, no TV and no wifiin room.. No decor or shower curtain.. .Breakfast is adequate. No heat in room so it is very damo humid and smelly. For the price it is not worth it. GET HEAT INSTALLED!! Good and resonably priced reataurant.

its a good hotel, located at the edge of the cliff which probably old crater of old mt.bromo. view is majestic! don't need to go to the bromo view points! good for family or group tour holiday. close to the hotel is the mt-bromo volcanic observation post..worth a visit. staff there would be very happy to explain the situation as...
