My friend and I arrived at about 19:00 after a relatively strenuous afternoon of cycling. We'd read from other reviews that the hotel has a bizarre policy of requiring guests to walk through the middle of their restaurant in order to access the hotel (which isn't made clear when you're actually there). We were muddy and sweaty and carrying cumbersome... More

My 3 days in Gengenbach was hi lighted by the wonderful experience of staying in this hotel. My room was spacious clean and had a lovely aspect towards the forests. I enjoyed the country feel, away from traffic and town noises. The short walk into Gengenbach is no problem for the average person, in fact is nice to walk and... More

We really enjoyed our night at this hotel. The easy stroll into town took about half an hour and passed many beautiful houses and an amazing old barn. On our return, rain was threatening so we called into their 'Village Hotel' and were given a ride back to the farm. Gengenbach is a very beautiful town full of half timbered... More

This Hotel has the potential to be great, you could not fault the location, however it comes with many flaws. On arrival there is no indication where you need to go to check in, eventually went up a flight of stairs to the restaurant terrace to ask someone, to find out that you go through the restaurant to check in,... This hotel is situated next to a farm, about a mile from the village center. Younger travelers could walk to the center in about a half-hour, but older folks would need to drive. However, there seemed to be plenty of pay parking on the village streets and in nearby lots. The hotel is built on a hill with a restaurant... More

Cute little hotel in small town in Germany. Went to see the world's largest advent calendar, and LOVED it so much more than what Colmar and Strausbourg had to offer. Hotel itself is spotless, with an affordable and delicious restaurant below it. We tried every bottle on their wine list, and for 15 euro per bottle, it was a no... More

I don't write reviews for hotels often but this one really deserves one. In this hotel they still know what meaning of service and quality is for a low price. The hotel rooms are perfect. Nice quality beds (2 mattresses of approx. 80cm wide forming a double bed). The bathroom is clean and very nice. The view of the balcony... More

We couldn't have been more delighted with this excellent hotel. Let me explain. On this our first visit to the Black Forest we wanted to base ourselves in the highly attractive town of Gengenbach but our web searches didn't produce what we thought of as an attractive hotel right inside this small town. But the Pfeffer & Salz (which is... More
