Accommodation was excellent as was the food. The breakfast was probably one of the best I have ever had at a hotel. The bar was crowded in the evenings as it was turned over to dining. Staff were helpful and attentive. Only reason I have only rated it at four is that some areas (notably the stairs) is badly in... More

This Gastro-pub produces a great standard of cooking and the menu changes regularly. This time I tried the spare rib starter which was total disappointment. The ribs where soft and "fell of the bone" but were very bland and tasteless. They were obviously microwaved to order and parts were still cold. They were served with what seemed to be a... More

Booked in for one night on way to Isle of Man for Classic TT. Spectacular setting with views across the Dee estuary. Very welcoming and helpful manager who was hands on in the bar and restaurant during the evening. It's an old traditional building, so don't expect trendsetting decor, but all clean and well maintained with very adequate bathroom and... More

My partner and I stayed here one night in August as we were at a wedding at the nearby Hinderton Hall Estate. The hotel is clean throughout and our room was nice. The decor is slightly out of step with the age of the building but as far as budget hotels go, this one represents reasonable value for money in... More

It was the recent UK Bank Holiday weekend and we were struggling to find a bed for our last night in the UK and after a recommendation from their associate hotel, the Jug and Bottle in Heswall who were full we managed to grab a last minute booking. The staff were very helpful in both the hotel and the pub... More

We had a family dinner at the hotel and really enjoyed the meal. We had good and friendly service and very good food. The menu is very extensive. Thai curry was particularly good. We had two bottles of Pied Noir red wine which was excellent. Highly recommended.

We booked our night in the Ship some months ago on a whim as we'd eaten there before and aren't that far from Parkgate but were looking for a child free night away without too much travelling. We booked a four poster room and on arrival found it was called the Lord Nelson and was right on the front overlooking... More

We (two couples) booked two rooms B & B on a Sunday night. Very friendly and helpful staff. Good choice of real ales (If that's your bag). Bedrooms and bathroom clean and supplied with toiletries along with tea, coffee, biscuits. A flat screen TV, and sufficient storage space for clothes. Good choice of options for breakfast. Food served to the... More

I recently visited the Ship for lunch with my parents. I had they burger which was huge and tasted amazing! My parents shared a pulled pork and club sandwich which were also delicious. Highly recommend! Will be back for more.

Our stay at the historic Ship Hotel was a very pleasant one. The hotel is situated on the main parade at Parkgate overlooking the Dee Estuary (mainly marshland with pools) and the Welsh hills. This is a fantastic scenic location for bird watchers. We watched a Marsh Harrier hunting on the marsh directly opposite the hotel and were pleased to... More
