After three decades living away from this area and on a trip down memory lane I called in at the Ship Hotel for lunch. The service was fast and friendly, the portions huge, and the home cooked food was excellent! Definitely worth a visit!

Just spent another lovely night at the Ship Hotel and again I cant fault it. Lovely friendly staff, food amazing and lots of choice. We were given the Lord Nelson suite which was a complete surprise and it was so nice with a fabulous view. Theres a bus stop just outside the hotel which goes into Neston ( just over... More

A great location in the middle of the Marine Parade fronting the marsh, the Dee estuary and the Welsh coastline. Safe storage for our bikes. Friendly manager & staff. Downstairs is a good mix of old features (the windows, glass and much of the woodwork) and refurbishment. It had a cosy glow about it and a chatty, buzzy atmosphere on... More

Visited the Ship hotel when in Park gate. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. We had a nice table and enjoyed a drink and lovely lunch. When we realised that it was a hotel I asked if there were any empty rooms to view for future stays. There was one, the lady Hamilton suite. This I viewed and it... More

My wife and I both enjoyed a very pleasant lunch at the Ship Hotel. We went in on the spur of the moment. The food was tasty and very well presented and thoroughly enjoyable. The staff who served us were very pleasant and helpful, the view from our window seats added to the enjoyment of eating at the Ship Hotel.... More

Yesterday we dined at the Ship Inn, Parkgate.Yet again what a wonderful lunch. I chose Pan Fried Hake with charged asparagus and chorizo with spinach and new potato gratin It was presented beautiful and tasted excellent. I really enjoyed every mouthful. My wife chose the traditional Fish and Chips which was a truly large beer battered piece of cod. She... More

We were recommended the Ship for Sunday lunch. we were pleased with the surroundings and the view was great, but the food that followed was disappointing! Poor quality cuts of meat and a skimpy portion of veg between two. Fatty and grisly meat and without any real flavour, very poor show! Will not be going again.

Stayed at the Ship Hotel in May. Looks like the ship is going through a re-fit, nice comfortable rooms, with nice décor. Great food in the restaurant & excellent breakfast . Nice stock of micro beers at the bar too.

Warm welcome, helpful staff (see also the separate restaurant review re. evening meal). Great location and marsh views over R.Dee to N.Wales. Excellent breakfast with sausages and bacon apaprently from local butchers and Welsh baked bread, so local suppliers used. Private transport necessary as there ar now only a few buses mostly in the evening. Parkgate is now in effect... More

As a family of three, we've stayed here a few times over the last two years. Lovely location, charming staff, spacious comfortable rooms, very good breakfast. We stayed in the same (family) room each time, and noticed it was repainted between stays. Also the dining room had been refurbished. Negatives - creaky floor and tiny shower, old bathroom needs refurbishment.... More
