We were just driving through and needed a place to lye our heads. We were late and the owners had to stay up to check us in. They were very accomodating and friendly. Very clean tidy and comfortable. Will be back and definitely recommend it to friends and family.

We have just finished at 20 day holiday starting from Tauranga through to Stewart Island, have stayed in motels from Paraparaumu, Ashburton, Invercargill, Kaka Point, Otematata (not far from the homeland of Richie McCaw), Tekapo, Blenheim and now good old gumbootville Taihape. We have stayed in motels that are rated 5 🌟 and below. Honestly I would have to rate... More

We stopped in Taihape overnight on our way to Wellington from Waihi. Di and Tom were really helpful, responding quickly to my email enquiries (was more convenient than using a UK mobile to call them) and Tom made us feel really welcome when we arrived. We needed to accommodate eight people and a dog and were able to do so... More

A quick, affordable roadside stop. No bells and whistles. Just immaculately clean rooms with a bed, kitchenette and bathroom. The rooms are very retro though they are well looked after. No peeling paint or dust around. I usually dislike roadside stops as I have bad dust reactions. This place was so clean, it was like visiting a friend's place. They... More

We were traveling from the South Island to Rotorua and decided to take it easy with a stopover. Looking at the map, the choice was Taihape. It is a small town in the middle of nowhere but it certainly has its charms. The Safari Motel is right next to the towns pride, a giant gumboot. The Motel itself is a... More

Thank you Safari Motel Taihape. Perfect stop over for us. Clean, quiet and comfortable. The owners are welcoming and helpful. Perfect for a stop off on the way to Wellington. Great showers and heaters. Comfortable beds. Highly recommended.

The owner was very welcoming, the room was very clean and tidy, and it was a very comfortable stay. Older style motel, but I will definitely be back as the service and cleanliness is great. Just a hop skip and jump across the road for a bite. Many thanks for a great stay.

We stayed here for doing the Mt. Ruapehu skii trips while being mindful of the hour long journey to the skii fields in Mt Raupehu. But being put up here we could stay clear of the overpriced motels in Ohakune and the likes near ski areas. This motel is centrally located in Taihape near restaurants, gas stations, cafes and a... Hi, Thank you for taking the time to review our motel. It sounds as though we are getting it right, and that is our biggest goal. By the way, you could have paid for a kitchen unit for another $15 a night which is worth while if you have 2 people and want to cook :) Cheers Di Power. More

Dropped into taihape when myself and my partner were there last and were really looking for a quick and easy place to rest for the night, found the safari and honestly wouldn't have gone anywhere else, total bang for your buck and to top it off the friendly hosts and cleanliness of the rooms made for a whole world of... Older style motels but clean and well maintained, very good value = in fact the cheapest we found in NZ. Pleasant hosts were very helpful. Eating out in Taihape not so great - we would not recommend the Gumboot cafe over the road, so a unit with cooking might be the best choice.
